Server to server?
Would it ever be possible for 2 or more servers to set something like this up to move back and forth? A network of like minded servers would be greatness.

that would be great but I couldn't answer that as the dev kit is limited right now in its possibility and something like this would have to be created by the devs, the communicating between servers, and then I could implement something like this in the mod.

With the possiblity to upload and download characters (aka Tributes) via the Obelisks now as of build 238.4 shouldn't something like this now be possible and automatable with just a little bit of code with a network of servers, given that you can already import other maps instead of just "the island" for ARK this really open up the possiblity of a 'Stargate' universe. (for those who don't know about Ark & alternate maps visit here https://wiki.nitrado.net/en/Upload_own_maps_at_ARK:_Survival_Evolved

I guess what I want is to be able to have several servers that you can move between but not be able to import from any others.

Example. One server be a resource free PVE server with no dinos but another be a pvp enabled server with lots of dinos and resources. 2 servers on the network to move your dinos and items around but you cannot bring in from any other server.

I think a really interesting way to implement a server to server stargate network would invole a global database where you can register your servers address. Once an address is taken no other server can have this address. A good way to asign point of origion would be to divide the globe up into regions (however many symbols there are on the DHD) and then depending on where a server is located assign its point of oigion symbol to the region it resides in. Given the ammount of combinations for all the symbols on the DHD we won't run out of addresses any time in the next few hundred (maybe thousand or even million) years. Anyone should be able to register an address, this would make for a very large global gate network allowing people hop from server to server worldwide. If a server is not reachable then the gate would just fail to connect when dialed. Even if a server goes down (permanatly) the address should not be re-allocated and instead should just be left as a dead gate on the network. This database would obviosly need to be hosted by the devs. This could be funded through donations or a small fee when registering a gate on the network. Well thats my view on it anyway.
