How to hold conquered zones?
Hey everyone, i hope someone is able to help me with this great and fun mission.
My friend i were able to conquer certain zones like outposts and resources and we even repelled an enemy attack of these positions (with lots of AT and AA weapons).
But after a (very short while) the enemy attacks again with the same overhelming force to take back the zones.

How is it possible to hold these certain locations? Are you just supposed to repel the attack a second time until the opposing force is giving up on the zones?

Im happy for any advice you guys can give me. Thanks a lot!

In the early game, do not expect to be able to hold sectors.
The AAF money pool is basically bottomless and they will keep coming at you until you can't sit straight.
The strategy would be hit a sector, cap it, loot and fallback before the counter attack. Rince and repeat on another sector.

By doing so, the more sector you cap, the more counter attacks the AAF will fund, drying out their money pool and finally allowing you to secure sectors.

Antistasi is designed as a long stretch game in which you will have to wear down a superior force to free the people.

Thank you man for your help! This is exactly the thing i needed to know.

One more thing im asking myself though: if the enemy forces arent getting destroyed, doesnt he get the money back either?

Any AAF soldier you kill or vehicle you destroy has an impact in AAF economics. Allways.

It's fairly easy to hold a town as the AI does not attempt to counterattack them too often. A medium sized town like Pachuras or Oreokastro will give you a point of HR every tick, which is far more valuable than the paltry money it provides.

Aggressively employing mortars against the AAF outposts and roadblocks is a good way to drain their res, just remember to relocate your mortar squad after every 8 rounds. The biggest force multiplier you're going to get in the early game is an armored vehicle. Convoys attacks provide the best source for these as you can choose a location far from reinforcements. An AT mine in the road will immobilize the lead MRAP and the trailing vehicle can be quickly neutralized with missiles. It's dangerous but an AI engineer can repair anything that isnt completely destroyed.

I would suggest having your AI training level at 4-5 and have about $5k and 15-20 HR banked before you're ready to contest a base.

I agree, HR is the important resource and getting an armored vehicle, especially one with a thermal sight will go along way to destroy the ememies pool of resources. If you shoot 2 tires off of a strider, the crew tends to eject out of the vehicle, shoot them and then repair. Karcist and I have made a small fleet of striders by doing this.

Oh for the days when they'd be a strider parked at every road block....

surprised nobody mentioned, but incase you don't know, commander can buy garrisons at HQ. they will respawn as long as the zone does not fall, if you have titans and PCMLs, they can usually defend things on their own.

Guys, thanks for all the advice!

I tried a lot in the past days, a friend and me played for hours. With no real progress though. We hit and run, destroy road blocks, make side missions, capture zones etc. As soon as we capture a sector though, there is either a random enemy APC coming to claim back the flag or the AAF starts an overhelming counter attack as usual. Despite having a garrison of 45men in the sector they take it (with the counter attack). The AAF does not seem to run out of funds...

I dont really see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are kinda lost.

Employing aggresive mortars is also not really possible because they are shooting from my base (the mortar trucks dont work) and the CSAT Attack force is there ins seconds (!!) and hard to repel when youre not in the base yourself.

Our AI Level is at 5 and the arsenal doesnt look too bad either. And still im not even close to contzesting a base, not even a single outpost.

Thankful for any help and advice! I still love this mod, great work Barbolani!

Welcome to the war, sometimes defending fixed positions is not a good decision, as arty can crush your 45 men in three lucky rounds.

Two options:

- Attack other places while you defend (to loose) which is done by most of the players most of the times.
- Establish good defenses: are you using AA guns? Mortars? Are there other garrisons as backup, near the attacked one, with those defenses?

And anyway, if AAF economy is very wealthy, then you and your 45 men worth nothing, better try to sneak in a base / airport and try to steal or destroy some assets. Do some damage and maybe, if you are lucky, next attack will be with trucks and transport helis.

If you got M6 Slam mines in the arsenal they can do a good job to stop most vehicles except tanks. Mine like hell :)

My HQ pos (very Southwest begginer position)

I was able to conquer the City Neri, Panachori and Zaros.
After this i decided to disable the radiotower at the AAF Base (083-101).
Then somehow i managed to take it over. So i return to HQ to manage the garrison like the tutorial vid said and recruit a AA Truck and sent them per Fasttravel.
I returned back to the base and notice there are some random Nato Soldier with even a Anti Air Tank.(its very randomly)

I think its a good defend position because on the top of the Base Building i have 2 Static MG and on the ground a lot of AT soldier and mortars. I have even the View to the nearest Powerplant to defend it.

by the way i play this on SP Scenario.
My earlier game save, the AAF sent 1 Moahawk with 24 soldier, 2 Hellcats, 1 Tank and a CAS. and CSAT Arterlly strike

I am sure i can defend it. because now i have the random AA Tank.
But i want more protection. So how do i buy static AA / AT ? do i have to manage garrison everytime to recruit an AA truck Squad and send them? Do i have to update the Arsenal to get an Static AA/AT ? If yes how do i get those?
Barbolani  [developer] Feb 26, 2016 @ 9:15am
You can just place (bought there, captured or whatever) a static AA within the base limits. Garrisoned rifleman will use them.
Zitrone Hund Feb 28, 2016 @ 12:28pm
now i get it. i have to buy static under the menu military Vehicle
