I must aks though aside from driants are you going to add any other forest spirits.
Would you consider making a mod that makes a "Spirit Callers" unit for the Wood Elves? Which basically is a Flamers of Tzeentch unit with the same stats, except:
It has the Burnt! effect on its melee and ranged attacks instead of Warpflame, it has the Strider trait as well as resilience against the effects from Athel Loren forest on the map (as they are wood elves), and it no longer has the Daemonic trait (so it can be routed with its low Leadership) but instead it has 2 bound charges of the Ice Sheet spell, as well as a map wide aura called "The Fireheart Aura" which is a mapwide aura that gives +15% fire resistance to allies provided the Spirit Callers unit isn't routing. With the description saying: "By communing with the fire spirits the Spirit Callers can lessen the burden of fire on their allies." They lose their "Cause Fear" passive, but instead the Range of their ranged attacks is increased to 120. Meaning that they are no longer immune to Fear and Terror effects, so you have to be very careful with them and find ways (like through the red skills of your lord) to increase their Leadership and survivability. Which can be tough, as Ice Sheet doesn't affect flyers. As such I also wanted their leadership to increase to 60 from 55, as they can be routed. Which is still very low, especially for such an expensive unit with such low defenses.
However, the map range of their The Fireheart Aura ability will be very impactful (it of course doesn't stack with other auras of the same name by other spirit callers, but it nonetheless lessens the burden on your spirit units). So instead of the 850 cost of the Flamers of Tzeentch, they will have a base cost of 900, with 225 base upkeep. To make it more fair.
Instead of the Flamers of Tzeentch model, you could use these models: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2968920193 (the creator has stated in the past that these models may be used by others as well), and use their animations for their melee and ranged attacks. I'm not a fan of the model with the skull on her head, but the model in the 1st image of the mod's screenshots is I think very fitting: the blonde girl with the leaf shaped headpiece on her forehead. So let's go with that for their appearance.
This could be a Tier 2 unit that benefits from the same upgrades that the elven archer units benefit from (such as Leadership and damage bonuses) through technologies and skills etc. Thus making him an anti-horde unit with good armor piercing at the cost of range. And could be recruited from the Roots of Ghyran, the same buildings you need to recruit the Spellsingers. Of course, when recruited by Drycha in the campaign, these units will also have the Glamoured passive: https://totalwarwarhammer.fandom.com/wiki/Glamoured
And, if possible, I would love for them to be compatable with this mod: Gifts of Athel Loren: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2862579213 which received a great update where you can put Aspects onto your Wood Elven units, and makes their gameplay so much more enjoyable! So it is a must have for Wood Elf players. Would it be possible to, within the same mod, make it compatible with that mod as well? Or if that is not possible, could you make an additional mod that makes this unit compatible with that mod?
Short description:
Spirit callers can commune with the spirits around them, who shield them from harm and devastate their enemies.
Long description:
Elves are intrinsically magical beings, who share a strong bond with the spirits. However, not all elves are talented enough to become powerful spellsingers. Spirit callers are common elves who do not have the sheer magical talent of spellsingers, but whose bond to the spirits allows them to nevertheless command the elements at their fingertips. They can ask the fire spirits to lessen the burden of fire on their allies, ask the wind and earth spirits to block incoming attacks, and ask the water spirits to hinder their enemies movements. They can also ask the fire spirits to attack their enemies, whose rage causes their fire to intensify into a blue flame that burns away all in their path, at the expense of its accuracy.
Sylph's Elementalists (Spirit Callers)
Description text: "Some elves have an exceptionally strong connection to the spirits of the wind, turning the very air around them into their ally."
Changes compared to regular Spirit Callers:
- Instead of the The Fireheart Aura's +15% fire resistance, it now has a +10% missile resistance aura called "Protective Winds". Like The Fireheart Aura it is mapwide, however also like The Fireheart Aura it only functions while the unit's Leadership isn't broken, meaning that you'll have to keep it well protected. With the description text for this aura stating: "Befriending the wind spirits means befriending the very air around you."
- In addition to its Ice Sheet bound spells, it also has Tempest as a single bound spell.
- Finally, they have the Envelop in Mist ability, except it can only be cast within 100m of the Sylph's Elementalists unit: https://totalwarwarhammer.fandom.com/wiki/Envelop_in_Mist
It's statistics when compared to the standard Spirit Callers changes as following: The strength of its barrier is increased to 1000 instead of 750, its Leadership to 70, its MA to 44, its MD to 24, and its speed to 60. It also has the Stalk and Vanguard Deployment passives.
However, its cost is increased to 1200 instead of 900, with 300 upkeep. An increase of 33%.
For its model, instead of the blonde model for the standard Spirit Callers, we could use the model in the 4th image here; the one with the red hair: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2968920193 which I think would be the perfect model for them :)
