a sort of plant-like mass, something that grows rapidly and shoots out spores to infect humans and create more plants, perhaps it could be another type of the virus, like a the last of us zombie

a charred zombie, fireproof (unable to be burnt by the flamethrower) yet more brittle

part of its body could sometimes break off and turn to mush, and if you touch it, the mush could infect you
