Potential fix for crashing
Make sure to select HL2: EPISODE ONE from the main menu first then load the mod from the workshop menu.

Seems that loading a mod from the workshop menu will use the currently selected HL2 version instead of the one required by the mod.

This helped track down some residual weirdness with Ep1 mods on the workshop - if you opt into the latest 'beta' branch for HL2 on Steam, this particular issue should be fixed.
