pretty late answer, I know, but it might be useful to other people:

you can disassemble the trailer tarp, but it doesn't give you all the materials back to put it on again IIRC, not really sure.
Another option is to remove the lid/door in the same way you do it on vehicles, and then reinstall them: they will be unlocked after reinstalling them.
