INFO - Performance Mods Overview (WIP)
A quick guide to all the mods which effect performance in this mod pack! This will probably be posted as a community guide when I am done.

-----Nexus Mods Which Improve Performance-----
-RE_Kenshi[www.nexusmods.com]-
A major re-write of Kenshi's engine to add more features and fix bugs that can't be fixed otherwise, improves load times between zones as well by compressing the game's height map. Comes with an easy to use installer and took me less than a minute to install.

-CTD fix[www.nexusmods.com]-
"Crash to Desktop fix", fixes many crashes and bugs related to vanilla animations. Also fixes glitches where characters fall through bridges and walls. Manual installation where you simply drag 3 files into your Kenshi installation folder.

-Engine Mesh Updater[www.nexusmods.com]-
Fixes a huge amount of log errors related to loading meshes which cause frequent crashes. Comes with two installers, one for vanilla and one for steam mods. Recommended to re-install any time you experience random crashes. Only takes a few minutes to install.

-Performance Fix[www.nexusmods.com]-
Converts all texture files to a faster format, significantly improving loading times. Comes with a simple installer, usually takes less than 5 minutes to install.

-----Mods Which Improve Performance-----
-Compressed Textures Project-
Does exactly what it says, compresses textures to improve performance. Comes at a pretty significant visual cost but helps a lot of low end systems.

-Foliage and Stone Total Rework (FASTR)-
Reduces the amount of foliage spam by breaking up clusters and reducing some kinds of foliage up to 90%. Also reduces the render distance for many small pebbles and foliage, and takes advantage of biomes with fog by further lowering render distance. My own mod so I know the most about it's optimizations.

-KPM Low-poly Environment Models-
Reduces the polygon count of many models in Kenshi's Environment, one of the most impressive performance mods of all time in my opinion.

-KPM Performance Particles -OR- Particle System Override-
I have been shown some benchmarking which seem to suggest that KPM Performance Particles has slightly better performance, and also requires no extra steps to install.

-Reduced Particle Effects-
Reduces spawnrate of most particle effects about 50%. I no longer use this myself but include it in the collection for my wife's laptop.

-Mood Waves -OR- SCAR's Water Optimizer-
I have been shown that water optimization does very little to improve performance, and SCAR's Performance Fix updates the format of these files anyways. I suggest Mood Waves. It is my own mod which uses a similar optimization method to SCAR's and comes with improved visuals.

-----Misc Optimizations-----
-Unofficial Patches for Kenshi-
Fixes a majority of glitches new users will experience. Harms performance by enabling distant meshes for a majority of locations in the game, disable distant towns in Kenshi's options menu to improve performance at the cost of visuals.

-Unofficial Patches for Kenshi No Swamp Distant Towns-
Disables distant town meshes for all locations in the swamp, UPK enables more distant meshes here which can't be seen due to the fog.

-Crunk Tweak Compilation-
Contains more bugfixes and logic tweaks, along with a few minor optimizations. Disables distant meshes for towns in the Swamp, Burning Forest, and all bandit camps.

-----Mods Which Harm Performance-----
-Distant Towns-
Enables more distant meshes for towns which were missing them, can be disabled in the options menu easily. Included in Unofficial Patches for Kenshi.

-Longer NPC View Distance-
Clever mod which sets many NPCs to have a longer view distance, definitely has an impact on performance but have not yet benchmarked.

-Mood Weather-
My own mod, adds more particle effects to weathers. Pretty significantly harms performance in favor of graphics, recommended to be used alongside KPM Performance Particles or Particle System Override.

-Clouds and Wind for World's End-
Adds more particle effects to weathers
