Apex Plasma not switching

I unlocked the apex plasma, shot the ice, and switched weapons... Now when I press "Q" the hotkey to switch to the Apex, nothing happens. I cannot switch back to the Apex weapon. I tried to grab it from the statute again, but it doesnt give me anything

that's how specialist weapons work. you have to charge it by getting zombie kills, then you can switch back
