I also managed to get completely lost at one point, having squeezed through a tiny hole to collect a gold crate, i think I ended up somewhere I wasn't supposed to be...
Your response makes me wonder: what do you believe makes the route so obvious? I was stumbling around in the dark until I found a spot to crawl under, but at no time did I feel there was a reason I was going the right way.
For example, there's a beeping sound which I at first assumed was what I assumed was the hint. But the sound never got stronger (atleast it didn't feel that way).
I'm sure you feel you've implemented something that seems obvious to you, but maybe you're too 'close' to the problem to be able to see how the problem appears to the players. If you could say what you think makes the route obvious, we can provide more accurate feedback.
The caves are straightforward. Players just refuse to try harder and just go to look at the other side for example. And for those who keep saying *it's bugged* we will never release something thats that bugged, in the main story there are no bugs, especially after the hq quest.
I went back to the caves to make the feedback more specific. But first I'd like to get something out of the way. I get that you guys are proud of what you've made and rightfully so! I've played non-stop the past two days (yay for being sick during christmas, nothing better to do) and have been having a blast.
However, please don't view feedback as an attack on yourselves (atleast as long as it's worded as feedback and not.. all caps and y'know). Nor is it a reason to just go "well the player is the problem", that's not fair in my humble opinion. But, keep in mind, you don't have to make any changes, it's your mod and you're not being paid for the service you've delivered. It's entirely up to you.
So anyway, as for the feedback:
People can have very different perspectives on the same problem, and at the end of the day nobody is perfect. Plus, i'm sure you all can dream the cave layout because, well.. you built it. :)
I went back to the mine, now knowing what to look for and equipped with the head lamp. I agree with you, especially seeing the cave more lit up, it is straight forward. The thing that tripped me up and had me spinning in circles the first time (and actually, I still had some difficulties the second time WITH the head lamp) is the small crawl space you have to get through with the stream of water. This is in the large cavern after you have to cross the broken bridge. Honestly, I think that's the only issue I had. In the dark (without the head light) it becomes much harder to find.
If I recall correctly, the head light did not unlock (blueprint) until after you find the mining HQ. Perhaps an easy fix would be to offer the head lamp recipe to the player before they are sent to the mine?
Thanks so much for all your hard work, it definitely brightened my sickly Christmas.
P.S. The ending is just temporary, right? RIGHT? :(
I'm sure when looking at a map the caves are probably just a long straight tunnel with 1-2 branching paths but with no "reliable" illumination hardly anything makes sense. As for "try harder" well bumping around hoping to find a needle in a haystack is not exactly what many people call enganging or exciting gameplay. This is right up there with aimlessly wandering the ducts in the HQ hoping to figure out which of the 20 turns was the right one.
I found the building containing the hand drill blueprints as well as the drilling sight. is there more or is the quest bugged for me?
