It was 1982 and John Ross was driving his '73 Dodge over Coalman's Hill when he experienced a breakdown. He was miles from the nearest town, so a tow was never an option, thankfully, he had his toolkit in the back and a spare belt off of a Ford which just happened to fit. John had almost finished the repair job when he was surrounded by a blue ring of light, and realised, he was being pulled up into the air. John never remembered what exactly happened after that, but he did find himself in a glass chamber, being watched by odd, lanky, greyish-green aliens with huge heads and black beady eyes. John was asked some questions, first in many languages he couldn't understand until a rough (probably 16th century) English was uttered, which John could understand (for the most part). Many things were talked about, like kings and cabbages, forks and hope, ships and ceiling wax, railway shares and soap. After an unknown amount of time however, John was offered some food (a sweet bread-like substance) and was set back down in a field. John had no idea how he'd get home, but he needn't have worried, for a group of army soldiers in armoured cars and tanks and Jeeps and rigs of every size showed up. Which is how we got this story. Since then, John has lived a fairly uneventful life, mostly just trying to keep his '73 Dodge running and avoiding certain parts of Oregon.
