Update 10.11.24
Changelog

V. 1.01

- Fixed some mispellings in the equipment file which were causing crashes
- In Minsk1941 fixed a mispelling for the captured equipment in the storehouse at Vilejka (28,9)
- Fixed fatal error in an AO45 Campaign LUA file
- Fixed wrong hero count for the random hero script in all AO45 scenarios

V. 1.1

- In Arras fixed the railroad connection
- In Minsk1941 fixed another error that prevented the storehouse at Vilejka to work properly; also the cost of the Karl Gerat is fixed at 2500 (the message in game said 2500 but it was actually 3500)
- In Operation Hydra fixed attributes for bomber hero Wilhelm von Bonin
- Added AO 1946 Amerika
- Added revised AO Spain

---------------------
-- AO 1946 Amerika --
---------------------

- Heavy map editing/polishing/naming for all scenarios (Northern path excluded, Texas Route included); for some maps good rig needed for cutting loading times. My idea of "good rig": i7 latest generations or i9 processor/32 Gb Ram/SSD/GeForce RTX 4060 or better

- Added Grondel's random hero script, reserve script and the new a-bomb script in every scenario; the a-bomb script actually spawns enemy militia units when an Atomic V2 is deployed on the battlefield by the player (and it will continue to spawn them at the rate of one unit every two turns until the bomb is used by the player) or upon a strike by an Atomic Horten (one militia per unit hit will spawn), while the spawn area is usually located around key objectives (victory, bonus or elite ones). To avoid problems with the elite objectives rewards (often Atomic V2s that spawn immediately on the map) the script is currently not active in the last four turns of the scenarios: keep this in mind planning your mission. Finally the random hero script would be soon updated to be more expensive for the player

- Reinstated Commendation Points

- Drastically decreased a-bombs use by the US (it happens only in just a couple of scenarios: Operation Tenacity and Ground Zero); as a compensation the US got a really outstanding air power, so a very strong air defense is mandatory if you do not want this campaign to be quite frustrating

OPERATION TENACITY
- just very minor tweaks to the map here. The Akagi fate has been a bit reworked giving the player enough time to get the bonus and elite objectives (because of the naval combat changes in the equipment file it was going to sink too fast); also the bonus objective gives you 4 CPs and the Capitana Vigano picture has been replaced with a new one (thanks Grondel for this nice gift)

OPERATION OGO
- again only minor tweaks to the map here. The strength of all carriers has been doubled (or even more), while the bonus objective gives you 4 CPs

BATTLE OF SAN FRANCISCO
- The map (imho the best one of vanilla AO 1946) has been partially reworked reducing the number of non-city hexes, as usual for urban battles; also added Bay Farm Island south of Alameda and partially repositioned the bonus objectives, which reward you with 8 CPs; the US mobile forces (vehicles and aircraft) are all overstrenghted, so watch out for heavy tanks, jet fighters and bombers

SAN FRANCISCO BAY
- After Battle of San Francisco added San Francisco Bay scenario, big battle around the Frisco bays where you have to face a powerful US counterattack; at start you have the chance to acquire heavy bomber hero Dietrich Peltz for 8 CPs, which by the way you can later refresh with the bonus objective of defeating both US Armoured Corps (10 CPs), while the Elite Objective rewards you with a collection of Allied aircraft including jets (you get 40 MeteorMkIII, 40 P59AAiracomet, 40 P80, 40 P61 and 60 P51H)

OPERATION TEUFEL
- The map has been completely redone and this is the first one where a good rig is needed. I wanted it to be consistent with the scale of the two previous Frisco scenarios as the locations are geographically adjacent, but therefore the project ended in a mammoth map where you will really be able to taste the vastness of the States even if at the cost of some headaches thinking about how best to allocate your forces on such a big map; also the bonus objective here gives you 8 CPs

OPERATION FALL GRUN
- The map has been almost completely redone, with various tweaks on gameplay as well, but not too far away from the vanilla feeling

BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES/BATTLE OF SAN DIEGO
- The vanilla Battle of Los Angeles scenario has been split in two parts: the first one is a new Battle of Los Angeles scenario which is now a giant map (well, it is clearly google-based, but from the old maps of the area I saw LA had yet an impressive extension by that time) for a truly epic battle with both urban and open-field warfare. I have added a lot of details, changing both bonus and elite objectives (bonus here gives you 10 CPs), while at start you have the chance to replenish your elite American equipment, with jets as well, for 15 CPs (you get 30 T26A4, 20 T34SuperHeavy, 25 T28Heavy, 25 XP77 and 35 XP55Ascender). For this very long mission (55 turns) you will have to manage your resources as best as possible (including the absolutely welcome Skorzeny Special Forces) because they will seem limited despite the invincible army at your disposal. The second one is Battle of San Diego scenario, which retains the original elite objective of Battle of Los Angeles and a much more accurate area of San Diego, Palm Springs and the Salton Sea; it is another long scenario (45 turns) but probably easier than LA at least as far as capturing the main objective. Also the bonus objective here reward you with 6 CPs, while the elite one grants you heavy bomber hero Werner Baumbach

OPERATION DORA
- the scenario features a new much larger map but the gameplay is quite similar to vanilla (anyway, as usual, the Americans are stronger); also considering that you should already have a K5 and even a Gustav in your roster, you won't have the auxiliary K5 that comes to help you with vanilla. Finally the bonus objective gives you 4 CPs

OPERATION PFEFFER
- once again you have a new much larger map to play with, featuring a very detailed Salt Lake City area; as in Operation Dora the auxiliary K5 isn't available and the bonus objective gives you 4 CPs

OPERATION HIGH FORTRESS
- only some tweaking to the map here, for example the Mount Rushmore National Memorial has been repositioned for better accuracy and now it should be harder to destroy it in the very first turn (if you play without OS you'll need Rudel and another Rudel-like bomber); also dirty airfields have replaced most of the regular ones, so it will be hard to use jets and heavy bombers, and the bonus objective gives you 4 CPs

BATTLE OF HOOVER DAM
- again only some tweaking for this good vanilla map. At start you can get another wave of top American equipment for 12 CPs (20 T26A4, 20 T34SuperHeavy, 25 M40Johnson, 30 P80 and 35 P59AAiracomet); moreover the bonus objective rewards you with 4 CPs

GROUND ZERO
- the map has been sligthly enlarged to cover also Santa Fe and making a bit more spicey the battle in the northern sector; the bonus objective rewards you again with 4 CPs

OPERATION KOWBOY
- the map has been expanded eastward to cover also the big city of Lubbock and having some more airfields to capture for the bonus objective, which grants you 6 CPs

ALAMO 1946
- here you have another completely redone, very big map for a 51 turns scenario with a lot of details (in fact it should be renamed Texas1946), where you'll have to face tons of US armies and aircraft and should be really hard to capture both Alamo and Dallas; for this purpose at start you have the chance to acquire another Meerschweinchen for 30 CPs and 8000 prestige, while the bonus objective gives you 8 CPs. You will have to be very careful when maneuvering your forces in this mission because here the difficulty bar has been raised significantly, with enemy armored troops overstrengthed to 20 and aircraft to 18. Speaking in particular for those players who do not overstrength their own forces, I found the 20/18 setting (sort of 1:2 ratio player/AI) the very limit where the enemy can be dangerous even for the typical superheroes army coming from previous AOs. Finally keep in mind that you'll have barely the time to capture your victory objectives, even with so many turns there is not really a chance for cleaning the map

BATTLE OF WICHITA
- the map has been only partially reworked here; the US defenses at Wichita and around the Boeing factories are quite stronger (so hard times for the Japanese, clearly doomed to be manhandled, but also for you), while the two bonus objectives combine for 8 CPs

OPERATION LIBERTY
- again the map has been only partially reworked, for example the two major lakes/reservoirs around Topeka (Lake Perry and Lake Clinton, both with a meaningful impact on the dynamics of the scenario) have been deleted as they were both created at least 20 years later our time frame; as a result escorting Manstein to Topeka should be slightly easier even if the Americans are much stronger than vanilla and are going to wipe out the aux Germans very soon. For the same reason the bonus objective (which gives you 8 CPs) will probably be more difficult to get than the elite one

SECOND BATTLE OF WICHITA
- the scenario is based on a slightly enlarged map compared to the already edited one of the first battle. The composition of both Japanese and American armies have been changed a lot; with your help the ♥♥♥♥ should be able to defend well Wichita, but the Americans are strong enough to chase you till the very end of the map. No bonus or elite objectives in this mission

OPERATION LUMPENJAGD
- for once only minor changes to the map, while the bonus objective has been reinstated (it is worth 4 CPs) and the reward for the elite one now gives you 40 US A26Invader and 35 B32Dominator instead of 90 Soviet 203mm gun and 40 US 8InchM1 (the other gifts are untouched); anyway there are significant changes for gameplay, as the Wehrmacht supporting units are slightly stronger and most of all the air units are present for both sides. If on the one hand killing Patton could be easier, on the other one the few slots at your disposal can really put you in a critical situation

BATTLE OF SPRINGFIELD
- here the map has been changed a lot for better accuracy, but the scenario is similar in terms of gameplay (no more Simpsons fighting at Springfield anyway); also the bonus objective grants you 6 CPs

OPERATION HOLZFALLER
- the scenario now features a massive map that brings justice to the Mississippi River for an outstanding battle with both urban and open-field warfare and with really an impressive number of units on the field (once again you'll be supported by a small but effective detachment of the Skorzeny SF); expect the difficulty bar here much higher than vanilla as you'll need to split your forces in several battlegroups to reach all the objectives while constantly harassed by tons of US aircraft. Of course if you choose only one path for the main victory objective the mission can be way easier, especially if you take the Memphis route, but this way you will be further away from the bonus objectives. At start you can refill your supply of American jets for 20 CPs (you get 35 XP77, 30 XP55Ascender, 25 VoughtXF5U, 30 P80 and 40 P59AAiracomet), while the bonus objective rewards you with 10 CPs. Finally, faced with a mission of this magnitude, I felt compelled to change for the better the reward for the elite objective: you'll be able to gain tank hero Johann Mueller, 40 155mmM12GMC and 30 B29SF

OPERATION KEN GO
- the scenario is based on the new Operation Holzfaller map but expanded more eastward. Expect a completely new scenario here, no more scripted as vanilla, with new bonus objectives (worth 10 CPs) and in general a more challenging US counterattack as you'll have to defend all the bridges on the Mississippi to win it. Thanks to your wunderwaffen you should not have too many problems crushing the Americans offensive, but then it will be a very long way to reach the other objectives. Also the reward for the elite objective has been changed as you will get another wave of top equipment with 30 Type5ChiRi, 45 ShinryuII, 30 T34SuperHeavy, 35 M40Johnson and 30 B32Dominator

OPERATION ZWEIHANDER/OPERATION PROMETHEUS
- Operation Zweihander and Operation Prometheus have been merged into a single big scenario with double elite objectives and new bonus ones; the map is so large that I had to cut a significative part in the West compared to vanilla to somewhat limit the total size: in particular the areas around Fort Knox and Oak Ridge have been completely redone with many details to give justice to big cities like Louisville, Lexington and Knoxville (which become new bonus objectives for 10 CPs). As usual due to the vastness of the map, but this time I would also add due to the double elite objective, the gameplay should be quite complex to manage even without US atomic attacks. Once again the reward for one of the two elite objectives has been changed: for securing the Research Facility at Oak Ridge you will get only 1 Atomic V2 and a bunch of top Soviet equipment (guess thanks to the ceasefire pact with the Soviet Union)

BATTLE OF WASHINGTON
- this is a new scenario that merges Battle of the Pentagon and Fall Schwarz ones; here I have clearly raised the difficulty bar to the maximum possible, with multiple Rattes to defend the key bridges of Washington, keeping the enemy spawn areas despite the considerable enlargement of the map and indeed transforming one of them into a nasty elite objective (although I honestly thought it would be harder to seize Quantico). To help you in the final difficult missions of the campaign, at start you can recruit once again Generalleutnant Adolf Galland in a quite stronger version than vanilla (to persuade High Command you'll need 30 CPs): leaving aside the nostalgia effect you will really need him in this new overpowered version since the enemy forces here will seem insurmountable. In addition to Galland, you will finally receive the "rudelesque" bomber hero Benno Herrmann by taking the elite objective

RACE TO NEW YORK
- Here we are with the new ending scenario of the campaign based on a redone map of the Escape to New York bonus one. I am not completely satisfied with the map as the area around Philly is a bit simplified, but offering more details there would have required a stand-alone dedicated scenario. Anyway, at start you can use your remaining CPs for replenishing your reserve of US/UK jets (for 15 CPs you get 40 MeteorMkIII, 40 XP77, 40 XP55Ascender, 35 VoughtXF5U, 35 P80 and 40 P59AAiracomet). Then get ready for a total clash with the Allies who will be able to enjoy three special bases capable of spawning units every three turns in addition to the usual enormous number of aircraft. Good luck.

-- AO Spain --
--------------

- Heavy map editing/polishing/naming for almost all scenarios (northern path excluded)

- Added Grondel's random hero script, reserve script and capture airfield script in every scenario

- Added elite objectives in almost every scenario

- Player-controlled Nationalists

SEVILLE
- In the campaign start Seville the map has been almost entirely redone for more accuracy; the main cities are already controlled by the Nationalists (as it was historically by the time of the airlift), but they are clearly outnumbered by the Republican Army (as it was not historically) and it will be quite difficult for you to support them everywhere. The result is a harder scenario than vanilla, but not that hard as it may seem at first sight. For the elite objective you'll have to capture all the victory hexes, quite a task for your green army but with a pretty good reward: you'll get 25 Bf109B, 20 He112 and 20 Ju87A for a first - even if partial - instant upgrade of your poor air force. Also keep in mind that by capturing the town of Carmona you'll get a powerful Soviet 203mmM1931 gift artillery unit with a must-have hero like Pawel Arakcheyev (+2 Ammo, Double Support and Zero Slots), while the custom objective (garrison key towns around Seville with Army of Africa units) will give you a "campaign bonus" for a future reward as well as 1 CP

ANTEQUERA
- the map has been only partially redone, slightly increasing its size; here for the elite objective you'll need to annihilate all the Republican garrisons north of Antequera which are not heavily defended but quite numerous for your army: if successful you'll gain a first wave of Soviet equipment (25 T26Model33, 30 BT5, 30 BA6 and 25 152mmM10-30). Also at start you get the reward for the previous campaign bonus with infantry hero Mohammed Meziane (compared to AOredone 1.0 I have changed one trait for him, trading Leadership for Evasive, while confirming Butcher and +1 Ini) and his gift African Infantry unit

MERIDA
- the map has been reworked increasing its size and expanding it slightly eastward to add the key city of Don Benito and its very precious airfield (historically the only one in the region as well as the Caceres one). This is a difficult scenario where you really have to choose which objectives to achieve as getting everything is most likely beyond your means at this stage of the campaign. In any case, for a tough game you can earn a nice prize pool as the elite objective (which intuitively could only be capturing the Don Benito airfield) grants you 2500 prestige, a little refill of German aircraft prototypes (15 Bf109B and 20 Ju87A) and most of all the super-defender tank hero Wilhelm von Thoma (+1 Speed, +1 HA, Aggressive Counterattack, Readiness and Provocator), who will surely help you a lot in the next missions (really thanks SOE Team for the Von Thoma picture)

TOLEDO
- the good vanilla map has been only partially reworked, but with meaningful consequences for the gameplay: since there are no more bridges in the southern part of Toledo (they were not and they are not there even today) the defence of the Alcazar is somewhat easier, even if to compensate this the Republican forces have been strengthened a bit. Furthermore the map has been slightly enlarged allowing the city of Aranjuez to be designated as an elite objective, for which you can get once again 2500 prestige, a brand new super-prototype PanzerIIIB (perfect choice for Von Thoma, I would say) and a useful refill for some of your Russian equipment (20 T26Model33, 25 BA6 and 20 152mmM10-30). Finally by capturing the town of Yepes you'll get another campaign bonus for a future reward

EARLY MADRID
- the map has been almost completely redone for accuracy reasons (but the size is more or less the same of vanilla) and this has affected a lot the gameplay as well, with much more urban/close defence warfare for a really tough scenario. Also both bonus objective (holding all victory hexes at the end of the scenario, 2 CPs) and the elite one (capturing the Ciudad Universitaria) have been enabled, but they are very challenging. In particular the elite objective should be quite hard even for the most experienced players, even if its reward is well worth a try, with 3500 prestige, a 88mmFlaK18AA gift unit and another refill of top Soviet equipment (25 T26, 20 BT7 and 15 152mmM10-30). Finally at start you get the reward for the previous campaign bonus with infantry hero Luis Moscardo Ituarte (compared to AOredone 1.0 it has been added +1 SA while confirming +1 Ini, Unyielding and Leadership) and his gift Guardia Civil unit

CORUNNA ROAD
- only some tweakings for the map and not much more for what I consider a pretty good vanilla scenario; also no elite objective for this one

MALAGA
- the map has been expanded but above all the positions of the victory objectives and of the Republican defenders have been changed a lot, while some Italian CTVs have been added (historically accurate) and the Republicans have been strengthened (not historically accurate, but otherwise the scenario would be too easy). The not so prohibitive elite objective of destroying all Republican units - considering also that at a certain point powerful reinforcements such as the German and Spanish heavy cruisers Admiral Scheer, Canarias and Baleares will arrive to help you (again historically accurate) - rewards you with a collection of Western Powers equipment (25 RenaultR35, 25 HotchkissH35, 19 HurricaneMkI and 19 BlenheimMkI)

BRUNETE
- the map has been reworked especially regarding the terrain, which is now definitely more difficult for tanks than vanilla, with the aim of a more balanced battle. The elite objective (again destroying all Republican units) gives you Italian infantry hero Mario Rizzo (+1 Speed, +1 SA, Flag Killer, Fierce Fighter and Low Profile), his natural companion CTV Infantry gift unit and some German prototypes (25 SdKfz10-4AA and 25 SdKfz231-6Rad). Keep in mind that in AO Spain the gifted Italian units will be upgradable only with Italian equipment, which by the way sounds fair to me

ZARAGOZA
- the map has been reworked for more accuracy but without increasing its size and keeping all the Republican spawn-bases. For the elite objective (capturing all victory hexes) you get an Italian tank M11-39 gift unit and some more Soviet equipment (25 AT1, 19 SU5_2 and 19 GazAAMG-AA)

TERUEL
- the map has been tweaked for accuracy reasons (the position of some key villages has been changed) but size and terrain have been confirmed. For the elite objective (again capturing all victory hexes) you get some top Soviet equipment (10 T28, 20 BT7, 20 OT133 and 25 BT7A-ATY)

ARAGON OFFENSIVE
- the map has been heavily reworked increasing size and accuracy and changing a lot of terrain for a more difficult but also more balanced battle. No bonus objective here, while for the elite objective (again destroying all Republican units, and again not so prohibitive) you get some more Western Powers equipment, mostly French: 25 SomuaS35, 25 AMC35, 20 HotchkissH35, 19 HurricaneMkI and 19 MS406 (well, I guess Berlin was very active to bypass the embargo for military supplies :-)).

BATTLE OF THE EBRO
- the map has been heavily reworked, once again the main change concerning terrain (hills, mountains and rough terrain clearly rule here), both for reasons of accuracy and gameplay. The Republicans own only three spawn bases (instead of four) but if you happen to think of an easier scenario you are mistaken. At start you can get fighter/tactical bomber hero Adolf Galland for 10 CPs, but he's got +2 AA, +2 AD, +2 Ini, Aiming Assistance and Leadership (so no Legendary for him as vanilla and +2 AD compared to AOredone 1.0). Finally the elite objective - capturing at least three Republican towns deep beyond the Ebro front line - grants you 2000 prestige (if you seize all four Republican towns), a Bf109E-1 gift unit and a collection of top Russian equipment (25 OT133, 20 BT7 and 20 BT7A-ATY).

CATALONIA
- the map has been almost completely reworked for more geographical accuracy and greater realism of the terrain. A lot of work done here which may not be that important for a scenario like this, clearly transitional before the campaign finale, but it could be useful in future campaigns set in Spain. Moreover no elite objective for this scenario

MADRID 1939
- the map has been completely reworked and you have to expect a quite different scenario here from vanilla, with more enemy forces (not historically accurate, but otherwise the scenario would be too easy) and a different positioning on the field. Also at start you have the chance to exchange your remaining CPs for a large collection of Soviet vehicles: if you have at least 8 CPs you get 30 UNL35, 30 TrubiaNaval, 30 T26, 35 T28, 30 BT5, 20 BT7 and 20 BT7A-ATY (no more Russian aircraft as in AOredone 1.0 because you should have yet plenty of them thanks to the capture airfield script). Finally no bonus and elite objective for this scenario.

What's next?

- New revision of all AOs, possibly new scenarios and a new campaign path to be added
- New alternative AO 1946 EMEA campaign focused on Middle East, Africa and Europe

BATTLE OF THE EBRO
Finally the elite objective - capturing at least three Republican towns deep beyond the Ebro front line - grants you 2000 prestige (if you seize all four Republican towns), a Bf109E-1 gift unit and a collection of top Russian equipment (25 OT133, 20 BT7 and 20 BT7A-ATY).

At Battle of the Ebro I didn't get BF109E-1 gift unit. I'm not sure if I received any of the elite rewards either as there were no popups/notification boxes. Captured last fourth town on turn 30 and I had all of them under my control at the map end. It seems I have plenty of russian equipment but those could be from earlier rewards or surrendered units. Didn't complete bonus objective, if that prevents elite objective for some silly reason.

Other notes about the map:
Mountains/hills were filled with ART and overpowered AA guns. AA in artillery mode does support fire on soft attack so usually there is 3 artilleries supporting each others in triangle formation and AA is usually much more deadly than artillery against units.

For campaign I decided to go for anti-air veteran trait as there is so much planes against player's few weak planes. And AA in artillery mode is totally OP so I get more of ART as extra bonus. I really don't see any point to pick other trait options, anti-air veteran was strong early trait before and now it's insanely good (SCW,1939,1940... until you have enough lethal attack heroes).
Struggled quite a bit on the Aragon offensive. since you have to split your forces heavily to take the northern part of the map. The lack of mobility on the infantry provided by the AI makes the eliminate all enemies objective quite difficult.
