cool idea, bad timing.
I don't really think that this would be a good implementation for the game, at least not right now, mainly because this could be used as an excuse to add more community gamemodes to the game which can actually bad for the games health to a certain degree.


Don't get me wrong, officially implemented community gamemodes CAN be a good thing for the game as a whole every once in a while.*

*given that the gamemode still feels like you're playing within the world of tf2 (so no prophunt or dodgeball, sorry)

*given that the gamemode is also balanced

*heavy emphasis on "every once in a while"

So far we've gotten 2 custom gamemodes in one year last year, which is already just one too many in such a short time span on top of the many we already have in game, even when you don't bring up the fact that zombies was horribly unbalanced on launch.

If it wasn't for the fact that vscript basically opened up the floodgates for people to create their own custom gamemodes, i would totally be on board for this approach, mainly so that it would bring more players to the barren gamemodes.

But im very afraid that if this gets added in today that we'd be getting more and more community gamemodes of varying quality in service of actual content.


Tl;Dr: good idea, and i appreciate the sentiment, but we dont need more new alt gamemodes, and this could easily be used as an excuse to put in more and more of them.

I also agree that this is a good idea, and that it could be abused to add non-TF2 related gamemodes. But theres atleast a split chance that this could be a chance for under-played gamemodes and maps to really shine through here.
I can already imagine an official deathrun map being added for Halloween with Merasmus as the activator and the traps being spells casted by him!

And it can also have minigames in the end since Carnival of Carnage, an official map, has them as well!

That'd be a cool way to make deathrun make sense in the space of TF2. Good idea! :steamthumbsup:
