because many items that are added with mods or are vanilla take up too much space.
one of these mods is hydrocraft, the second is a mod for new containers, all sorts of bags, dressing cases and other inventory items that should occupy one or two cells, instead they occupy almost the entire 50 kg box
especially if the zombies are wearing a lot of things.
this also applies to firefighters, whose company deals with literally the entire inventory of zombies
but from the point of view of game mechanics, where you move 80% of the time on foot from point a to point b, while spending a lot of time, it's not pleasant and doing 4 approaches back and forth across the city because of one wheel, it's not pleasant.
therefore, as for me, it's kind of stupid to violate the established mechanics with a weight limit.
Yeah I noticed there are some balance issues, especially with modded items, but from what I see about your other arguments... simply looks like this mod is not for you. Its clear its balanced around vanilla crafting and basic realism and tediousness which I really like (really not a fun of Hydrocraft)
There is a lot of compatibility patches required that is sure. Bow and Arrow for example - quiver has space for only 9 Arrow for example. But yet again its not vanilla.
But garbage bags are definitely to big - best and least possible I assume would be giving "soft" containers dynamic size depending if they have content inside... but I'm not sure how possible that is 😅
That said, I understand people will want to mod there games heavily at times.
I've just added a new sandbox setting: Bonus Grid Size
It increases the size of all grids in the game in each direction by the number you set. That should help you all customize your experience for a bit to accommodate various mods.
set Bonus Grid Size = 1
A container that was 4x4 becomes 5x5
I'm leaning towards a right click menu option to "fold" them if they are empty.
Balance wise, this makes it so traits that give you carrying capacity really take a hit. Organised as well also suddenly feels like an almost worthless -6 trait since you can only cram so much in a box anyway. I have no idea what the logistics are behind how the mod works but giving some extra blocks in containers for organised or an extra few blocks on your person for having more carrying capacity would be nice, even if as a mod option to turn on so players wanting a more difficult experience can leave it off.
For fun purposes I also realised how difficult it would be to have things like the true music mod work with this since each cassette takes up one very valuable space, even worse if you want to take a few with you on a road trip. I don't know how you would go about tweaking that, if it's even at all possible outside of just telling the player to build several cassette boxes. Maybe a feature that lets players tag or white list items into a custom group of stackables? Example being I could make a new group called "cassettes" or "collectables" for some of the fun mods / items and add them to it.
All in all this is a really kick ass idea and I still fully intend to start playing with it, hope to see you really iron it out and get it perfect.
