矮人语
起源介绍
卡扎利德(Khazalid)是矮人们使用的一种高等神秘语言。他们鲜少在其他种族面前使用卡扎利德,因为觉得外人们不配听这种古老的语言。 矮人天生就拥有洪亮的声音,他们在说卡扎利德时宛如山间惊雷,又如巨石滚落,轰隆不绝。这是一种强硬有力的声音,有时矮人们甚至会使用喉音。卡扎利德尤其反映了矮人的热情豪爽,其中包含了数百个描述不同种类的岩石、隧道、黄金的词汇。它的书面形式被称为卡林卡胡因(Klinkarhun),这是一种符文字母,能够轻易地被凿刻在金属与岩石上。
    虽然现在的人类很少使用卡扎利德,但根据西格玛教派内部一本叫做未完之书(the Unfinished Book)的藏本,西格玛本人是懂得卡扎利德的。这种矮人的语言也随着一代代的传承,广泛地在教会中传播。毫无疑问卡扎利德具有严谨的正规语法结构,但外族人很难从矮人的日常交流中发现总结出这种语法规则。理论上来讲,通常情况下,卡扎利德将主语放在动词之前,将宾语置于动词之后,但有时仅仅使用重音就可以决定一个单词在句子结构中的位置。在特定情况下,某些单词可能非常重要,因此需要将它们置于句首。这些词会首先出现在句首以示尊敬,接着会在适当的地方再次出现,比如:“陛下 — 我要去见陛下”。在书写或雕刻重复的单词时,通常在句首以独立符文的形式进行凿刻,在其他重复的地方则是以卡林卡胡因的形式。

语法&词缀
    矮人语的第一个原则是记得所有词汇几乎都代表着具体物质,而鲜少有用以表现抽象概念的具体词。因此,许多词汇既是物理事物,也代表着与该事物密切相关的抽象概念。比如“巨石”这一概念的词根是“kar”,最常用的表示山的词是“karaz”(az的后缀表示单一的物质或者特定的位置),该词根“kar”也用于表示“持久的”—— karak(ak的后缀表示抽象概念)。所以矮人首都的名字卡拉扎-阿-卡拉克(Karaz-a-Karak)的含义就是“永恒的山峰”或者是字面意义上的“有大石头的地方”。然而这个名字在人类的语言中更具有吸引力——“Everpeak”永恒峰。

    令人感到奇怪的是,矮人语中用来表示人类这一种族的词是“umgi”,而其抽象形式“umgak”的意思是“劣等品”— 在矮人语中也指“人类造的”。这表明留意矮人词汇的词缀是十分重要的,正是这些“特别注释”会告诉你这个词的实际含义。

    虽然词根也经常单独使用,但许多卡扎利德词汇都是由一个词根后面跟着一个或数个指示词组成的。比如“Kar”代表大石头,后缀“az”代表地方,“i”代表人,路径,贸易,因此“Karazi”代表群落成员、登山者。

    而有些词根不会以单独的形式出现。如果一个一个词根完全由辅音构成,通常会在它的末尾添加一个额外的“a”,但在添加后缀的时候会将“a”删除。比如“Ska”是小偷、盗窃、偷窃的词根,因此:

        Ska+az=Skaz  一个小偷

        Ska+azi=Skazi  小偷(特指)

        Ska+ak=Skak  偷窃行为

        Ska+it=Skit  偷盗

    在卡扎利德中,会在动词前后添加不同的词缀来表示时态:

        Skit -- steal

        Sked -- stole

        Anskit -- will steal

        Adsked -- had stolen

        Anadsked -- will have stole

3.-ar:表示随着时间退役会一直持续下去的事物,比如“urbar”(贸易)、“utar”(慢性疼痛)与“zonstrollar”(太阳的移动)等。

4.-en:表示正在进行但不会一直持续下去的事物,比如“strollen”(旅行)、“gotten”(行军)与“hunken”(沉重的负担)等。

5.-i:表示个人、职业或种族。一般来说,可以将它看成定冠词“the”或者是“在这儿的那个人”的概念,许多人名也以“i”结尾。

6.-al:表示一群人或生物——更像是一个集体名词。因此,虽然表示人类种族和男人的词汇是“umgi”,但表示一群人用的是“umgal”

7.-it,-git:用于名词后表示一些小且微不足道的事物,用于动词后表示现在时(作为矮人鲜少将他们混淆)。

  1. Wan - On its own at the start of a phrase, wan shows the phrase is a question. It's the Dwarf equivalent of a question mark. This is usually missed off where a standard wan - question word is used instead (wanrag, wanrak, wanrum). Wan is also used immediately before another word to frame a question (ek wangit? 'are you going' literally 'you go?', wandar 'is it good?' literally 'good?')

  2. Wanaz - A disreputable Dwarf with an unkempt beard; an insult

  3. Wattock - An unsuccessful Dwarf prospector; a down-at-heel Dwarf; an insult

  4. Wazzok - A Dwarf who has exchanged gold or some other valuable item for something of little or no worth; a foolish or gullible Dwarf; an insult
