ADVANCED GUIDE
Introduction
For anyone with problems or questions, read here, it may help you.

If you want to change name for player 2
First you will need to open the developer console and type the following command.
name2 yourname
Replace yourname with any name you want.

If you want to change character
First you will need to enter the offline co-op mode and open the developer console type the following command.
sv_cheats 1
followed by typing the following command.
cmd1 sb_takecontrol charactername
Replace charactername with the character name for player 1.
But if you want to change the character for player 2, use the following command instead.
cmd2 sb_takecontrol charactername
Replace charactername with the character name for player 2.

Can't move screen up and down.
First you will need to open the developer console and type the following command.
cmd2 +jlook

If you have one controller (Only works with Xbox 360 Controller!)
If you only have one controller to play with and you want the other player to use the keyboard/mouse you will need open developer console.
But, first things first, open a notepad from the start menu then copy and paste this code into it.

Save the notepad file with any name you want (i chose one-controller.cfg) into:
Steam > steamapps > common > Left 4 Dead 2 > left4dead2 > cfg

Once you do that Head over to your game and enter the offline co-op mode and open the developer console and type:
exec one-controller
NOTE: In my case, the name was one-controller.cfg, depending on the name you chose you would exec the name of your cfg file.
Then simply launch a split-screen session using this add-on, you will be able to play with 1 controller and one keyboard/mouse combo.

If you want to play an add-on map
Unfortunately, this add-on does not support opening maps of add-ons that are not officially listed, But you still have a way to play add-on map.

First you will need to know the name of the map you want to play.
Then go to the main menu and open the developer console and type the following command.
map mapname coop; wait 100; connect_splitscreen localhost 2;
Replacing mapname with the name of the add-on map you wrote down before.

If you want to play mutations or any game mode on official maps or add-on maps
First you will need to know the name of the map you want to play.
Then go to the main menu and open the developer console and type the following command.
map mapname gamemode; wait 100; connect_splitscreen localhost 2;
Replacing mapname with the name of the add-on map you wrote down before and replacing gamemode with the name of your desired mutation or game mode.

An example of this if you want to play Mutations in mode Four Swordsmen on The Passing's first chapter
map c6m1_riverbank mutation5; wait 100; connect_splitscreen localhost 2;
Mutations work the same way but their names can be a bit tricky to find, you can click here[forums.alliedmods.net] to check out some names for a couple of mutations.

If you want to join the server
You should now be able to play Left 4 Dead 2 in split-screen with another friend on 1 PC, and the game doesn't support more than 2 players on one machine, so what to do if you want to have more players?

If you want to play the game with 3, 4, or even more players you will need more than one PC, all of them connected to the same network, and Left 4 Dead 2 is installed on all machines. But, still how do you do it?

Make sure all PC's are connected to the same network.
To host a game, pick one of the computer to be the host.
First, host choose online connection.
After that put the host enter the offline co-op mode.

After the host enters offline co-op, on the other player's side The steam group servers will appear, and find the host server and join the server.
