Unbalanced encounters
First of all, thank you for your hard work on this mod.

The first encounter was frustrating as hell, no ammo and 5 or 6 enemies shooting from every directions.
The following fights felt unfair as well, especially the ones on the metro (I needed to sit on the floor for like 5 minutes).
Some balance is urgenlty needed in my opionion.

You gotta search for it I guess. I had your issue first time, tried like 3 times. Got a nade from dead combine, got another one and gunned down the rest while in cover. There is a combine stash in the left side before you enter there.

I really enjoyed the ammo scarcity. You definitely have to look around and scavenge a lot here and not rush through the map. I had 136 bullets when I got to the first Combine encounter. That should certainly be more than sufficient. Often you have to turn around to see things you missed; I especially found a ton of resin that way.

You might jsut be bad. I've had actual maps lately where this is a problem, and this, by far, is not one of them

ah yes of course the problem is me, not the scarcity of ammo, or the pinpoint accuracy of the enemies shooting me while peeking from cover, nor the bad map design.

Well I found it a bit frustrating, too. I had had the annoying heartbeat in my ear and no health anymore for a long time, and barely made it to the metro level. Had enough ammo but was hoping for a syringe somewhere . But now I'm waiting for an update for the performance problem. But I am grateful for guys like these who make high quality content (for free) for my favorite game. I just hope it's not totally hardcore battle, I'm more into the exploring, story and puzzling side of Alyx, mixed with balanced fighting.

There's really more than sufficient ammo to beat the game on Normal. You may want to adjust your play style for this map; you really have to strategize each engagement quite well. I died plenty of times myself.

You guys are talking about the part after the train sequence where you find the first ammo box. Yeah its hard

my thoughts. I already didn't understand in the normal story too how some can run out of ammo.

Guy phrased it pretty rudely, but there is seven (now 8) comments saying "i don't agree" so, this may in fact be a play style issue rather than a mod issue.

The first encounter is definitely way too hard. This is no fun at all.

Try entering on the left side instead of the where the field comes down behind you.

I agree. The enemies, overall, have been turned into bullet-sponges. Way more than in the original HL:A game.

Just as a test, I turned on "Easy" difficulty, God mode, and went to shoot a Combine in the head, point blank. It takes a good 4-5 shots to kill them.
This is NOT okay.

It needs serious balancing but its otherwise good.

+1 on balancing.

I understand about wanting things hard but usually you start slow then build, this is just bullet sponge (as other's stated) from the start.

Theres a couple spots in the campaign that are rough but not insurmountable. i found that i had to get better at my gameplay to surpass them.
