Half-Life: Alyx

Half-Life: Alyx

LEVITATION (Part 1)
Peformance issue
I played this mod on Quest 2, RTX 2070 Super, Installed on SSD and runs so terribly

I lowered resolution (1108x1109) and set graphics setting to lowest, and still stutters are all over place.

even Resident Evil 7(VR Mod) peformed better than this.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is really well made mod, and I think the map is really well made.
even it's look better than base Half-Life: Alyx!

It's a shame that my computer can't handling this.

huh, I guess it's time to jump on Radeon RX 7000 series.
I'mma beg AMD to give me Radeon RX 7900 XTX for free

It certainly has higher system requirements than the base game, but that's just because of its more ambitious, larger levels. Not sure what CPU you have, but you could easily be hitting bottlenecks there too

Valve Index, 2070 super, Ryzen 3700x. I know the system is a little dated, but the first part ran very well and then it suddenly goes south so badly when I reach the metro where the first weapon upgrade station is. Suggests there is something wrong maybe, in fpsVR overlay shows a lot of spikes with the cpu? Cpu frame times in the first part where very good.

i am having pound for pound the exact same problem i have a Ryzen 2700x and a 3070ti
Maybe a cpu bottleneck?

I got 8700k and a 3080. I have issues too, probably CPU bottlenecking.

Lots of ghosting and stutters. I have a similar 2070 Super system but with the Ryzen 5 3060. I was down to 45 FPS for most of the 2nd level. It did get better later, but was never absolutely smooth for me.

I've found others with the same issue! Boo/yay... First 2 maps were fine, but third map (the last one of Part I) becomes an unplayable mess. The lipsync on a character who will remain unnamed (due to not wanting to spoil anything) was laughably off due to the stuttery performance.

I'm guessing it's sheer map size/detail that makes it inevitable for those of us with older CPUs... I'm still rocking an i7-4790K, personally.

It seems to be running just fine for me on a Ryzen 3700x and RTX 3070

The issues really begin on the second map, Jupiter. How far along are you?

I'm about an hour in. There were some spots with frame drop, but it went away quickly. It's not perfect in some places, but for the most part its been fine.

OK good to know. It's probably the video card then and 3070 might be the minimum for smooth play. I was getting 45 FPS on my Index on the 2nd map running with very modest settings.

3060 Ti , Ryzen 5 5600X & 32GB DRR4 and I'm having bad lag at that same metro area as well

Oh yeah I forgot what cpu I used Ryzen 7 2700X. It’s dated cpu anyway

just a suggestion, not sure if it's physics based issue but if it is might be worth checking your GPU control panel and make sure Physx processor is set to the GPU and not CPU?

i9 9900k and 3080 same problem poor performance
