What are you, 14?
It's a much better concept than the original native warband MP considering you can actually achieve things. I can't stand how empty the original MP is in comparison to the SP which is teeming with rpg elements. I agree that it is at times, extremely underpopulated and most people play defend the viscount or other modes I personally am not interested in so I find it kind of lacking. I would love to join a 200 person siege but it's quite rare. I have been involved in some 60 player sieges but since downloading crpg most of the server consist of defend the viscount and empty other modes with maybe 1 or 2 players.
Hmm that's a very inaccurate description of CRPG.. it takes a ton of skill, and I usually go 5+ battle maps without hitting one person (edit:Teammates that is) - You have to actually be aware of your surroundings at all times.
It really takes weeks to months before you can even consider yourself decent.. Most players on CRPG have been playing for almost 10 years - since MnB originally came out
Truth. Too bad the mod isn't very populated though. The server selection is very slim.
Yeah I agree, I can't hit anyone even after 5 rounds, and if I did it wouldn't even tickle him with that thick armour.
I would highly suggest for new players to practice this alot, because a few well timed blocks can be the difference between living and dying. As a new player your greatest asset is the fact that you can usually run away from armored players. So it helps to play a game of cat and mouse.
Heavily armored infantry seem to take maximium damage from axes and being speared. Armor doesn't do well against piercing attacks, but does great against slashes. So stab them, don't slash them. (except for axes iirc)
Cav got you down, get a long spear and ram it into the players legs as they pass or the horses head if they charge you. Most of the time you will outreach them and possibly bring down their horse - thus usually making an easy kill.
Also never leave your group, you are very vulnerable alone, but in bunches you can take down almost anyone.
Learn to use your tilde ~ key to check your back if you hear horses coming or just afraid of getting jumped from behind or sides.
Archers got you down, get a shield.
There are a lot of little things new players and peasants can do that can really turn the tide of the battle.
Notice that there is one bad ass on the other team killing everyone? Gang up on him and take him down as soon as possible, make sure you bring the entire team.
You can easily get a horse and lance after a day or so of play, and if you hit people in the head from behind, you can get some kills - or at the very least assist your team.
It is really a team based game when it comes down to it, trying to lone wolf it only works after you are confident in skills and gear.
Also I can't blame new players for getting upset and feeling like the game is stacked against them. It really is stacked against you, but intelligent play and teamwork can help to balance it out somewhat. And in a few weeks of experience you will go from you thinking everyone is hacking, to wondering how you could have ever been so naive.
Anyways Good Luck and know that if vets see new players on the field, they become prime targets for them - mostly because they are easy pickings. Read the art of war and understand that every weakness you have can become your strength: that is if you are quick and smart about it.
