[BUG] Negotiating expertise reduces selling price.
Pawn with 18 Social and 12 Negotiating is worse at selling stuff than a pawn with 1 Social.

Yeah, I'm getting this too.. My negotiator has 20 social 20 negotiating and 95% trade bonus and everything is selling for pennies..

I don't see why this would happen. I'm using a vanilla stat for this part. Maybe another mod is messing with how that stat applies?

Very likely some flavour of Un-Limited.
Once your sell price modifier goes over cca 40%, you would be able to buy things for less than you would then sell them for.

Rimworld apparently has a built-in setting where the price you SELL for cannot be higher than the price you BUY for within a single transaction.

So once your sell price modifier reaches that point, it reduces the price of EVERYTHING within the transaction to pennies (min 0.5$ I think)

The "solution" is to just use your super-negotiator to BUY using Silver (price of 'money' is never reduced), buy all those fancy things you want for 0.5$/piece and have a SECOND pawn with reasonable Sell Price multiplier (40% or less) do any selling.

(And probably install some kinda bank mod to store the obscene amounts of Silver this will generate so that the raids you get don't crash your game :> )

i'm getting this too (on 1.3) and i too would guess that this mod was written without the knowledge about this mechanic described by Sigmar. (rimworld has sooo many hidden mechanics and functions)

now the question is: can we remove an expertise from a pawn? i cannot find anything in the debug actions menu and am at a loss. pls can you help me restore my best trader of my longterm playthrough? save file editing maybe?
legodude17  [developer] Feb 9, 2023 @ 2:44pm
There should be a "Reset Expertise" dev action that will do it.

thank you for the quick response, but alas, i cannot find it. which heading should it be under? "Pawns"? been through it a couple of times now... :s
legodude17  [developer] Feb 10, 2023 @ 10:39am
Yeah I think it'd be under Pawns. Some people don't have it for some reason, most likely an outdated mod or a mod conflict.

hm. too bad, but thank you for your time and efforts. i will adapt. :P

Sorry for pulling it up, but is there, by any chance, solution on this bug or better just abandon this expertise?

checked, not working.
not a solution

Not a bug, the selling price is hard coded to always be equal to or lower than the buying price. Your negotiation ability lowers the buying price as well.
If the buying price gets to the point where it would be lower than the selling price, the selling price is lowered as well. I've had a pawn with so much negotiation stacked with different mods that everything bought and sold for 1 silver.
