Kenshi
(Beta) Project Kathun - A Kenshi Star Wars Mod
Balance, Content, and Lore-Friendly Patch for Project Kathun
Taking this mod for a spin myself and being a SWG:Legends veteran as well as a Pre-NGE veteran before it shut down(Legends is still running but that's off topic.), I decided to try my hands at rebalancing or filling in gaps of Star Wars lore in this mod. Posting my obscure list of patches on my relatively unknown modpage, I figured I would post what it offers here for more suggestions, ideas, and general criticism. The mod will likely be useless later on since PK is still in a Beta phase, but in the few hundred hours I tried this mod out I was proud of what I accomplished using it's assets. Truly it's an amazing mod and more people should add on to it.

You can access it here if you are interested.

What the mod offers so far://

-The ability to recruit prisoners if they are disarmed in a similar fashion to the Recruit Prisoners mod, but in a lore-friendly way, and not having to use vanilla Kenshi dialogue states. (No more Samurai stormtroopers.) My rendition of it is small, but it allows the basic ability to essentially recruit any Pirate, Non-Named Jedi, Non-Named Dark Jedi, Bandit, Non-Officer Imperial, Non-Officer Rebel, Non-Unique Mandalorians and all droids. I also added a secret recruitable NPC and the ability to recruit the Death Witch of Kathun if you are stronger then her and have Lord Krosaag's holocron. I gave her a personal story and some background as to why her people, the Thun-Ur are raving lunatics.

-Reworked meditation maps to function as free camp beds for Jedi/Dark Jedi characters to heal slowly, giving them an advantage to pursuing their tech and teachings.

-SN-82 and Jawa Ion Blasters are craftable, and schematics are purchasable at blaster shops. Previously the Jawa Ion Blasters could not be crafted.

-Stormtrooper pauldrons have a second variant wearable by players in the belt slot that allow your stormtroopers to have taticool pauldrons and backpacks at the same time. (For sandtrooper and EVO trooper RPers I guess IDK)

-Increase the storage of all storage items to a much higher amount.

-Added the ability to craft rations, denta buns, as well as 'caf'. I also added the ability to farm denta beans and caf beans. I increased the food value of denta buns to be equal to ancient rations, but made them harder to craft. Denta Beans can only be grown in a hydroponics farm due to not being able to be grown outside of Naboo natively.

-Added deep water drills that consumes water for ore at a 4x reduced rate and large amount of power required. This allows users to live in areas with decent water, but horrible ore. Such as the Northern Snowfields, an important area of Kathun that is a custom snow biome.

-Both Dark Jedi Master Robes AND Cloaks can be crafted, not just robes. Regular cloaks could be crafted, but master cloaks could not. Stormtrooper pauldrons are also researchable and craftable in the clothing bench once you unlocked the first tier of Imperial Army Uniforms. Regular armor materials are no longer crafted with bone, they are crafted with iron plates and leather. Shadow Stormtrooper Armor and Rebel SpecForce Armor no longer penalize stealth. This might seem unbalanced, but the entire point of Shadow Troopers and SpecForce was their agency under their respective intelligence branches. A noisy SpecForce or Shadow Trooper just makes no sense.

-The Community Part Map no longer makes a bunch of armor and clothing invisible in neck areas. I went to every legging in the game and removed the badly placed part map colors to be compatible. Feel free to point out any armor I missed. Also tweaked some armor to make feet invisible like stormtrooper boots so that droids that have the ability to wear armor do not clip through the bodymesh, also makes some aliens wearing it look better.

-Using SolYetti's Commando Droid Race mod designed for Kathun, I implemented various NPCs and the ability to recruit these droids more commonly at Rebirth. They can be found as powerful officers of the Rogue Droid Legion and CIS Holdout raids on bases as well. They are also recruitable if you capture them like all squad droids in the mod. They function like Hive Princes as well in the respect that they carry a droid CPU that you can remove from their head to kill them while disabled and can fetch a decent price of 7.5k. Rogue Droid Legions are also more present in the biomes around the Rebirth and their Floodlands.

-On the matter of droids, basically every single droid in the game has a death item, which kills them if you take it out. Stronger droids have pristine, unfried CPU chips that go for a higher price while weaker droids have crappy fried chips. B1 Battle droids are also more present in the game as well as W-Series Droidekas. Instead of the vanilla Kenshi spider droids, Droidekas along with B1s will be present in ancient labs, workshops, armories, and other artifact locations. Ancient Armories will contain Clone Wars weapons. Nearby droid factions will also send hostile Separatist Remnants to your base to raid. CIS Holdouts can also start spawning camps when you defeat the Cannibal Grand Wizard. Clearing out the Capital also has a new worldstate where the CIS Holdout Commander, a brand new bounty in this mod, takes it over and stages more raids. Separatists are basically a menace in the western part of the map and former skeleton lands.

-Droidekas have been rebalanced to be less overpowered and more fragile. They are also more rare and can only be purchased from wandering droid traders or droid traders ordered to arrive at your base. Though they can be purchased in different variants now. Players can now be visited by Wandering Droid Traders at their base and have a chance to purchase the rarer Heavy Droideka and Security Droideka. The Heavy Droideka is a darker plated Droideka that the CIS Holdouts use and the Security Droideka is an elite Droideka with more advanced weapons, stronger natural armor, higher stealth ability, and more health. Heavy Droidekas also have decent health and stealth ability, but are weaker in firepower. Droidekas can also now siege gates now. Droidekas of all variants also heal much slower and sustain damage, they powerful, but will not protect your forever, being more fragile each time you abuse them. B1 Battle Droids are now extremely weak in the stomach and head areas just like in lore, they had a highly exploitable lower frame. Commando droids have a very strong, armored chest with 200HP, but they also have a very weak head just like B1s. Droidekas all have weak legs, though some are more armored, they are purposely the weak point of their body while not rolling.

-Allying with the Jedi or Dark Jedi and becoming a Master now has consequences. If you are a Jedi and become a master, Dark Jedi will raid your base, as well as contract Mandalorian bounty hunters to raid you. If you are a Dark Jedi Master, the Jedi will assault your base periodically as well and Dark Jedi will regularly challenge your right to be master of the order, also raiding you due to the nature of Sith/Dark Side infighting. Every single Jedi and Force Sensitive NPC in the game now has a NOTORIOUS bounty from either the Empire or the Alliance. It's very dangerous to be a Jedi, as it should be during the rule of the Galactic Empire. These events are rare, can never be avoided unless you destroy them both and can happen anywhere on the map. Changing sides will not exempt you from pain either, you will just receive the events of that faction instead. You can "break" Jedi by completing the Dark Jedi questline and cause Jedi prisoners to lose faith in the order to join you. Dark Jedi can be recruited by anyone so long as your are stronger then them, respecting strength and ambition alone.

-Various unique weapons and items that were weaker or not properly assigned to be unique or legendary are now assigned so. Named items have unique properties or at the very least, superior quality to their crafted brethren.

-The Thieves Guild now has wandering traders that will send smugglers (gunrunners) to profiteer off the Galactic Civil War. If you are allied with the Thieves Guild as a member and are allied with either the Empire or Rebel Alliance, you will be visited by smugglers if you are near your allied territory. They will offer munitions and wares of the enemy faction, allowing Imperials to purchase stolen Rebel gear and vice-versa. Being neutral, but allied to the Thieves Guild allows you to purchase stolen gear from both sides, however at a lower stock rate, since they will only carry a certain amount on them and neutrals have to split between both stocks. They will be escorted by heavy security and thieves guild vendors, allowing the player to enjoy the services of a surgeon or a fence from home!

-AT-STs are renamed to AT-ST/D due to their droid computer/AI nature in this mod, I provided in-game lore to reflect this and their rarity is due to being experimental. AT-ST/Ds can also carry a lot of items for almost no burden, making them a highly sought out prize rather then just simply a tanky version of the Droideka with a massive hitbox.

-Hydroponics is easier to obtain and has the ability to plant anything, including cotton, cactus, and every food crop. Included new farming research for them as well. Why on earth does someone want to live only on 10 nutrition Caf and a dream, I will never understand but you can do it now I guess.

-Clan Nhymon's base has a lot more loot and they have a bounty for both Empire and Alliance players. They have been tweaked to avoid fighting random wildlife and only fight in self defense against them so they can focus on defending their base/be less easy to cheese. They however will still attack everyone else. Mandalorians will be Mandalorians.

-Tried my best to make this mod play nice with LiTo's own Lore Friendly and Balance based patch. It will befuddle Shadow Trooper and SpecForce armor, but I used their mod in my own playthrough without any issues. If anyone else makes Kathun mods around these areas, feel free to let me know if this mod plays nice or not.

-The Foglands is much more deadly and players cannot set down a base in previous safe spots without Infected One raids. Zombified humans and soldiers are more common, while hivers are still present, it's mostly Project Blackwing victims. Having a base near Mongrel will also trigger these raids. Nowhere is safe.

-Merchants can visit anywhere, sell more, have less diverse items (farmers will have farming things, period.), and will be better armored. Hiver caravans will actually look well armored and secured for long travel. It's also possible to live off of merchant trade due to sustainable food and resources that can be purchased, allowing more freedom to settle anywhere. For a price.

-Gates in various tiers are much stronger and can withstand siege. Larger gates and especially the heavy outpost gates from the main mod will be the best quality in the game.

-Prisoner Cells are now buildable if you research Imprisonment, for those who like clean Imperial cages I guess.

-Regular Cargo crates now exist in two tiers, have the same space, but the larger one carries much more in stacks. Gonk droids are no longer useless, their backpack storage model allows them to carry a huge amount of small items in stacks, but not that much storage dimension space. It is possible to use them for carrying food and ammo, or keep around multiple for some strange, extremely slow caravan. Preferences. Needs additional testing as I am trying to make the other protocol droids and astromech droids have a use as well within the game's limitations.

-The Holy Nation is no longer an eyesore and actually looks like it belongs in the Star Wars universe, as well as the Flotsam Ninja. Dialogue has been reworked to make them Imperialist fanatics who are basically responsible for selling out their system to the Empire after the Holy Phoenix was killed. The Kathun Shadows, or Flotsam are an Anti-Colonist terrorist group that resents slavery, offworlder government, and of course the Federation for it's sexist as well as xenophobic society. Droids are still feared and hated by most people, but due to the Separatist Holdouts being violent to all factions. Federation of Kathun members will have drastically changed dialogue to reflect Star Wars lore and have uniformed Composite Armor setups. More events related to them will be added later, but they are a minor slaver faction that supplies materials and manpower to the Empire for now.

-Many dialogue states and word swaps have been changed in this game to better reflect Star Wars lore. Vulgar expletives have been replaced by their lore counterparts such as "kark" and "kriff" referring to fornication according to the renowned Thrawn Trilogy books. Mentions of God, Narko, and Okran are less likely to happen while mentions of The Force, Stars Above, and 'Minions of Xendor' are often involved in heavily damning context of dialogue. "Blasting" and "Spacing" are more often used then mentions of cutting, killing, or slicing to fit in with Star Wars slang in lore. Changed/fixed Chad's dialogue to reflect Star Wars lore.

-Some followers like Crumblejohn are totally reworked lore-wise while classics like Beep are left alone. Crumblejohn will now be an ex-clone in service of the Empire and have a heavy war background fitting to his age. (Most Clone Wars vets are about his age, clones being even older.) His combat dialogue will also make occasional refences to the classic early 2000s version of Star Wars: Battlefront II. He will also be outfitted in old Novatrooper elite armor, have slightly better stats, and be truly unique. I plan to work on other followers to give them unique backgrounds, lore, and equipment as well but nothing too unbalancing. Suggestions are welcome.

-Various books and lore have been corrected or changed. Some items such as the Emperor's Statue will now refer to the dead and dying culture of the Holy Nation, rather then speak about the Holy Phoenix in present tense. Various holy books still present in the game will also be known as "Old" Title and be referenced in past tense as well in the description. Small labor of love changes, but I plan to progressively rework all the writing in the game to be fully assimilated to Star Wars lore and the Project Kathun's headcanon of being an Unknown Region's planet that was recently put under Imperial occupation.

-Game starts have been modified slightly for balance and a new start exists now that allows the user to play as squad of rogue B1 Battle droids who are enemies with all the major factions. They will also have the research to build their own skeleton beds and outpost needs starting out like the vanilla settler start.

Future Plans for Mod://

-Federation of Kathun gains more interaction and presence in the game, possibly a Kathun Shadow questline or worldstate that reflects their animosity against both the Empire and the Alliance. Terrorist attacks in cannibal plain/forest territory for being allied to either, ect.

-Add more worldswaps and worldstates to allow the various minor factions to dynamically take over eachothers bases. Possibly make massive Separatist Holdout, Rebel Alliance, and Imperial Patrols clash in the wilderness to better reflect the state of the war on Kathun.

-Add a lot more lore and books to bridge gaps in some places/concepts in the game. Possibly explain the planetary lockdown, why a native is an Imperial governor in the Unknown Regions and not Thrawn or his subordinates. (Thrawn was assigned with conquering and expanding in the Unknown Regions in SW lore.)

-Possibly introduce the Chiss Ascendancy or exiles. At least of mention of them for being so deep in the Unknown Regions.

-Make B1 variant backpacks craftable, so players can freely reskin their droids. [Complete, you can research robotics in 3 tiers to upgrade and customize your droids as your see fit, even the unique skins that only exist from certain starts if you are advanced enough.]

-Add a progressive tier of raids that detect the actions/state of the world. I.E killing Imperial Generals and other endgame bosses will warrant Dark trooper, Novatrooper, and AS-ST/D only raids ect.

-Make various workarounds, events, and dialogue to make neutrality possible for endgame gear and play. [Semi complete due to smugglers and the ability to recruit Mandalorians after killing the bad ones and the concept being able to start as Separatist Holdouts, as well as smugglers guild being able to deliver major faction gear to your base to buy.

-Create a friendly version of Mandalorians that you can join once you eliminate Clan Nhymon due to being dar'manda (dishonorable Mandalorians). Also create a unique Mandalorian Recruitment specialist that will send you Mandalorian recruits at an extremely high price as well as do the same for droids. Semi-complete, droids are not recruitable unless sliced, but the Recruitment specialist will give you Mandalorians to recruit if you killed Toka Nhymon.

-The same as the Mandalorian idea, but an ability to side with the Separatist Holdouts or at the very least, take them over after defeating Lord Krosaag as a Dark Side kind of option to take his mantle rather then destroy what is left of his followers and faction.

-Improve graphics of the mod, replace some items with different textures like making more books as holopads, ect. (Lower priority, as I intend to use only the assets of Project Kathun alone to allow the main mod to get more downloads and make this mod as small as possible.)

If you need help with this mod, or the main mod, or have any other input, feel free to discuss it here or on my own page. I basically been staring at the insides PK for weeks and playtesting, but I plan to make this basically the Star Wars version of Shidan's famous Reactive World eventually.

It was really more of a line of personal edits for myself. A lot more has changed since I posted this. I just ended doing so much that I figured I should publish it before I drop Kenshi.
