Supply Chain Mechanics
There has been quite a lot of discussion around which industry buildings produce what and how they all interact so I thought I would try to capture it here.

Extractors
Generic (specialised industry zones) extractors and DLC industry extractors all produce exactly the same 4 products:
  • Ore
  • Oil
  • Logs
  • Grain (Called Crops in the DLC)

Processing Plants
It is at the processing step that things diverge.

Specialised generic industry processing plants produce:
  • Ore -> Coal
  • Oil -> Petrol
  • Grain -> Food
  • Logs -> Lumber

DLC industry processing plants:
  • Ore -> Glass, Metals
  • Oil -> Petroleum, Plastics
  • Grain -> Flours, AnimalProducts
  • Logs -> Paper, PlanedTimber

Factories
DLC Factories take the DLC primary/intermediate products and produce luxury products:
  • DLC Primary/Intermediate -> LuxuryProducts (Unique Factory Products)

Non-specialised Generic Industry
Finally, generic industry NON-SPECIALISED acts a bit like factories from the DLC where they take the intermediate products and produce Goods.
  • Coal, Petrol, Food, Lumber -> Goods

But they also have a trick, they can take the DLC intermediate products as well:
  • Glass, Metals, Petroleum, Plastics, Flours, AnimalProducts, Paper, PlanedTimber -> Goods

They only have one storage buffer and happily fill it with either their primary (non DLC input) or their secondary (Industry DLC) input.

The inputs also come in semi matched pairs eg:
  • Lumber and (Planed Timber or Paper)
  • Food and (Flours or Animal Products)
  • Petrol and (Petroleum or Plastics)
  • Coal and (Metals or Glass)

Cities Skylines Supply Chain
In table form:

Zone / Building
Input
Output
Generic Industry - Oil Specialisation
  • Oil
  • Petrol
Generic Industry - Ore Specialisation
  • Ore
  • Coal
Generic Industry - Farm Specialisation
  • Grain
  • Food
Generic Industry - Forestry Specialisation
  • Logs
  • Lumber
Industry DLC - Oil
  • Oil
  • Petroleum, Plastics
Industry DLC - Ore
  • Ore
  • Glass, Metals
Industry DLC - Farming
  • Grain
  • Flours, Animal Products
Industry DLC - Forestry
  • Logs
  • Planed Timber, Paper
Factories
  • Oil, Ore, Logs, Grain
  • Planed Timber, Paper, Flours, Animal Products, Glass, Metals, Petroleum, Plastics
  • LuxuryProducts
Generic Industry - No specialization
  • Coal, Petrol, Food, Lumber
  • Planed Timber, Paper, Flours, Animal Products, Glass, Metals, Petroleum, Plastics
  • Goods
Commercial Buildings
  • LuxuryProducts
  • Goods

Warehouse Options
To help decode the confusing labels on the warehouse storage selector:

Warehouse Storage Option
Material
Unique Factory Products
LuxuryProducts
Zoned Industry - Forestry Products
Lumber
Zoned Industry - Farming Products
Food
Zoned Industry - Ore Products
Coal
Zoned Industry - Oil Products
Petrol

Generic Industry v Industry DLC Zones
It should also be noted that generic industry zones are actually "districts" whereas Industry DLC zones are actually "parks". This means you can zone the same region to be both an Industry DLC area and a specialised generic industry area and produce both types of intermediate products from your processing facilities.

I've made a (quite not) brief note on how all that seems to work together: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/2805340879/3472855915031367620/

I found this one: Zoned Industry - Farming Products giving odd behavior lately.
