Sorry, can't comment since I'm playing via Family Share (wth Steam).

As you've already pointed out this doesn't work for existing saves, but neither does the Book of Origin. I have not found a way to remove the Undead Tag from Fade, or at least make him heal from heal potions.

I've tried editing the save file and changed his race, removed the Undead Talent, removed the Tag...nothing works unfortunately.
