Regarding the Vanilla Expanded Patches...
I've seen multiple people talking about this, so I'm starting this discussion to compile what I've found out. Hopefully this helps clarify some things.

Short answer: No, not really.

The thing about MO's plants is, while they lack any special traits, they are used exclusively in MO's meal recipes, whereas VE plants can't be used as their ingredients (E.g. MO's Pumpkin Fritters can only use MO's Pumpkin, but not VPE's Pumpkin).

There's a patch for both VCE & VPE in the mod files, but from what I could gather in the xml files, all the VPE & VCE patches will do is change the duplicated names. If the patches were pathed correctly, VE plants with their special traits (E.g. VPE's Pumpkin won't botch harvest) would still exist, just under different names (E.g. Mammoth Gold Pumpkin).

As it stands however, with the VCE & VPE patches incorrectly pathed (See "Patch problems?"), there's 2 of each plant with the same name but different uses.

Vanilla Faction Expanded - Medieval
Similarly, MO's VFE-M patch didn't touch the grapes either, so there's 2 different sets of "Grapes → Grape Must → Barrel → Wine" that aren't interchangeable.
