maybe make double hearts or soul hearts have a chance to turn into mega batteries and those provide two hearts of heal when picked up?
also what about black heart -> golden batteries?

I upvote this, also half red hearts turning into micro batteries, 'tho I think black hearts becoming golden batteries can be quite op
