[Help] FAQ (Read this for help!)
1. Why does the radio addon/tool not load?
Usually the error message tells you why. Be aware of this:
  • After downloading you need to restart your game.
  • The radio will only work if the server has it installed aswell.
  • If the game has too many Lua based addons installed/enabled, some of those addon will not load properly. Uninstall/disable some Lua based addons to fix this.
  • When the error is about outdated versions make sure the game and the server are up to date. Check your game branch to be up to date aswell.

If this error still happens after treating these points, please read those:

2. How do I spawn the radio? Where is the radio?
You spawn it with the "Radio Spawner" toolgun. Check if tool is loaded. If it is not, see question 1 above.

3. How do I get radios that don't have a display?
You can disable the display or you can choose a model that doesn't have a display. You use the toolgun or Wiremod to control it.

4. Why the radio doesn't have a display.
You disabled it or the model does not have a display. Use the toolgun or Wiremod to control it.

5. How do I add songs/streams?
Use the playlist editor or the toolgun for direct playback. Read these:

[Help] Error: 41 or 44 | Unsupported file format or the codec is not available/supported
[Help] Error: 2 | Can't open the file
[Help] Error: Invalid Playlist
[Notice] Digitally Imported playlists are broken.

6. How do I play from YouTube?
You can't play from YouTube:

7. I can't play a file or stream. How do I make it work?
Read the error help text to find out what's wrong and what to do. If you don't want to read the ingame help you can also read this:

Put in a path relative to the sound folder. The file must be inside the sound folder. Only clients who have the file will be able to hear it. Also you may need to read these:

9. Why is the radio so quiet? How do I make it louder? How to increase the range of the sound?
Increase the global volume, increase the range of the radio and also increase the clientside maximum range in the settings. Make sure nothing is blocking the radio sound or disable this effect in the settings.

10. Where do I find the playlist editor
It's in the the settings. You need to be an admin to use it. It for editing the server's playlists. You can open it in the console aswell. The command is: cl_streamradio_playlisteditor

11. Where do I find the settings?
It's at: Q-Menu > Utilities > 3D Stream Radio

12. But I don't have a Q-Menu or I don't want to use it. So what do I do?
Use the console commands that are listed there:
[Help] ConVars and ConCommands.

13. What are the console commands?

14. How to use the Wiremod inputs/outputs?
The Wiremod ports are listed there: [Help] Wiremod input and outputs.

15. What is gm_bass3? Do I need it?
Gm_bass3 is binary module for GMod. It adds more Lua functions for music and sound streaming.
This addon uses it to provide more and better functionallities. It is optional for server and client.

If installed on the server, you can use the Advanced Wiremod Outputs.
If installed on the client, the performance could be improved.

16. Why is Digitally Imported not playing?
They block playback from external players, so Digitally Imported playlists are broken and removed.

17. Why does Soundcloud not work?
SoundCloud support is dropped for legal reasons

18. Do you accept station suggestions?
Yes, I do: You want a new station to be added as default? Put it here.

19. Why do I hear the radio through different speakers/headphones instead of the right ones?
The latest GMod Update (190903) fixed this Problem.

It was known that sound device/interface changes would break the radio untill game restart. Playback is no longer interrupted if you plug/unplug speakers/headphones. It supposedly even also works if no sound devices are presents (playback continues muted).

Error 4 is:
Your sound driver/interface was lost.

To fix it you need to do this:
- Plugin your speakers or head phones.
- Enable the sound device.
- Restart the game. Do not just disconnect!
- Restart your PC, if it still not works.

my radios are invisable. i konw there there because there is a shadow and i can pick it up. Also all of them is invisable

Try using as different model and also check the game running at DX9. Any lower DX setting is not supported by the game. Please check the console for render errors/warnings.

Why won't the songs load? The youtube URLS just endlessly load without any error message.

Are there any services where I could create and share a playlist that you know of? Shoot me a comment on my page if you have an idea.

I can play individual songs but not playlists as I do not know where to get them.

You can create a playlist file with the playlist editor. The playlist files are saved at garrysmod\data\streamradio\playlists. Playlist are serverside. Everything else is written in the FAQ above.

@zikaitoh: Restart your game after changing sound hardware or configuration. It this is GMod problem and not fixable for me.

@Wolffman109: Your Problem is not related to this addon. Garry's Mod requres a minimum screen resolution of about 1024x768.
