[Notice] SoundCloud support is dropped for legal reasons
An email:
I received an email from SoundCloud® saying that my radio would violate their quite restrictive Terms of Use[developers.soundcloud.com] for their API.

The email in question:
http://i.imgur.com/TjyxMzv.png

Let's check:
I have checked the ToU and basicly these are the prohibitions that could apply for the radio:

Originally posted by Terms of Use:
[...] you must not use the SoundCloud® API, or any User Content accessible via the SoundCloud® API, for any of the following purposes [see below:]

Number 1:
Originally posted by Terms of Use:
[...] to create any kind of alternative digital content service, including: any service that aggregates and streams User Content from multiple users into an on-demand listening service, or any playback experience which aggregates and streams User Content with content from other services (e.g. SoundCloud with YouTube)

Well this radio is not SoundCloud only for sure...

Number 2:
Originally posted by Terms of Use:
[...] to incorporate, synchronize or use User Content with or into any advertisement, game, video, film or other audiovisual work, or any other application, unless you’ve obtained all relevant licenses, including synchronization licenses, from all relevant rightsholders

It's an addon for a game, so I'm not sure if it also applies. It playbacks songs that are public and that have been allowed to do so. I'm not sure how "or any other application" is supposed work.

Number 3:
Originally posted by Terms of Use:
[...] to create any webcasting radio app

Well this addon is a radio client so it's applies, I guess. But Jesus what kind of apps are supposed to be approved by them with this role? Isn't it a point to have an API for such services like SoundCloud to be accessible to from like a radio/media player?

Let's retry:
They also want to have a "®" for the SoundCloud®-Link in the addon description, so I updated all descriptions with it.

To not lose the "SoundCloud®"-support I followed the instruction in that email and reapplied for a new review. I explained them the problems about the above roles I see in connection with this addon.

Let's see if it works.

Edit: It didn't work. They revoked my API key.

Guys I just got an email from them again.
The mail says that the API Access has be revoked. It also says that it would violate against the role in quote 2 above.

Can you reccomend other alternatives that aren't Youtube or Soundcloud?

I recommend radio streams.
You can also play online and local files.
Supported format's are MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV, WMA and FLAC.

Take please take look at this if you have problems:

Youtube works too, but it requires proper (aka. "follow the given instructions and wait") usage.

I hate to say this, but the Internet is a bastard. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bastard. So, why the hell would they force this on us? I like to use the Stream Radios for playing crap from random websites on GMod.. Holy hell, the website owners are idiots... Well..

Peace out. For now. -_-

wtf

Yeah, soundcloud is stupid. They offer an public API to do pretty much everything with their service, especially streaming music (explicitly advertised). But when you stream music then they revoke your API access, so it no longer works for you. The rest is explained in the top post.

This will help you to get URLs to stations that will work with the radio.

Btw: Dropbox works too now. The recent update improved support for Dropbox URLs, so you don't have to mess with those parameters (?dl=1) anymore. Remember through, URLs can still go stale or can break without a way for the radio to fix.
