It allows you to upload files and convert them to links you can use
- Usually works best with (self) hosted content that allowes hot linking. The problem is: Not every hoster allows hot linking. And the links you get are likely to expire after some time.
- The radio does not understand HTML or let alone recaptchas.
- It is not a browser, it is a player for music or stream files.
What sites can I recommend? Yeah, that's a difficult question.
I recently noticed that it works quite well with Nextcloud instances on files that are publicly accessible. Nextcloud support hotlinking, but still needs manual URL retrieval.
Drobbox does support it too. It is similar to Nextcloud instances. I added an automatic URL converter so stuff is easier to use. Automatic URL conversion is impractical for Nextcloud instances.
FTP servers could work too.
Gitlab or Github, although not recommended.
I have seen Discord links being quite effective.
Youtube does not work. Converters aren't usefull for the radio neither. They are like semi legal at best and super wonky all the time, even when used in a browser.
Other limits:
- Remember Drobbox is rate limited and other providers might be too.
- URLs retrieved might contain a token that is locked to your IP and/or to user agent, so using this might not work for other players on the server or even for you at all.
- URLs can and will expire after some time.
- URLs must be public. No login, no region locks, no DRMs.
https://streamurl.link/
It is for radio streams only, though.
