It would be cool if we could change the fire limit to 2000.

If i want to burn down a wooden skyscraper, then 1000 is not really enough , 2000 is the amount that my pc can handle and not crash.

There's a mod that ups the limit to 5000 AND lets you change the spread speed.

You can change the spread speed in the performance mod too, and now I've changed it to 10,000 for the max count and 100 for spread.
