Creature Taming and Abilities Guide

Ark: The Sunken World Creature Guide

Anomalocaris
Taming: To tame an Anomalocaris, one first needs to lower its health below 20%. Once below this threshold, the Anomalocaris will begin emitting an orange cloud around itself and behaving much more aggressively. If the survivor is not wearing a SCUBA Tank, it will latch onto their back, immobilizing them. In order to render the Anomalocaris unconscious, one must consume narcotics until they fall asleep. Anomalocaris have low torpor, and follow suit soon after. Once the Anomalocaris has fallen off, the taming process may be continued using the standard knockout tame procedure. The most effective food for taming an Anomalocaris is Ammonite Bile, followed by Leech Blood, Raw Meat, and Blood Bags.
Abilities: Anomalocaris isn't a great fighter, but they have the unique ability to function as a living SCUBA Tank! However, one should be aware that any chest armor they are wearing while an Anomalocaris is attached will slowly lose durability.

Sphyrna
Taming: While Sphyrna are traditional knockout tames, one shouldn’t expect to be able to take one down without a fight. These sharks are formidable creatures, and will retaliate fiercely against any who provoke them. Once unconscious, Sphyrna can be fed Regular Kibble for maximum taming effectiveness. Otherwise, they will accept raw mutton, prime fish meat, or prime meat at a decent rate.
Abilities: Sphyrna are good early-game mounts with decent fighting capabilities. They sport a natural 20% reduction to any incoming damage, and are immune to stunning attacks meant to dismount players. They are able to be equipped with a two-seater saddle for additional protection, which doubles as a mobile smithy. Furthermore, Sphyrna have the ability to act as a living metal detector, showing the location of nearby metal nodes after sending out a pulse.
Controls:
-Left Click: The standard Bite attack that deals moderate damage
-Right Click: Head Bash, slows down enemies and deals a higher amount of damage. Can also be used to farm mineral nodes like metal and coral.
-C Click: Activates the metal detection ability. Every metal node within the rider’s general vicinity is marked with an indicator on their screen for a short time.

Acrophyseter
Taming; In the wild, Acrophyseters spawn in pods containing both adults and subadults, the latter of which appearing at any growth stage from baby to adolescent. Both adults and subadults are tameable, but require different methods. Adults can be passively tamed with Superior Kibble for maximum effectiveness, followed by raw mutton or raw prime meat. Subadults can be tamed through a process similar to the taming method of the Hyaenodon, with the survivor being able to interact with the Acro every thirty seconds to “play” with it. This process gives taming progress each time, but deals a heavy blow to taming effectiveness.
Abilities: Once your new playful comrade has been acquired,
Your new playful Comrad is able to gather the help of Other Adult Acrophyseters that help in dangerous situations (ability will last for around 1 minute and 30 seconds) Once they are in groups they gain a pack Buff that is similar to the Allosaurus one. One of the Main abilities is the sonar detection that shows nearby creatures (similar to Parasaurs sonar ability) this can be used as a mobile sentry once the Acro is unmounted.
Controls:
-Left Click: The Standard Bite attack
-Right Click: A Sonar ability that detects nearby creatures
-C Click: a headbutt that is strong enough to stun creatures for 10 seconds, this effect cannot be stacked (The Ability is exclusive to the Alpha)
Ctrl: performs an Call for help to nearby Acrophyseters (only the Adult ones)

Ambulocetus
Taming: To tame an Ambulocetus you first need to travel the Dangerous Ice Caps. Those cold and unforgiving regions house the whale, both on water and on Land (Fur Armor is recommended). To tame Ambulo your best and only bet is the KO Method. It eats Regular Kibble and Any kind of Meat (Raw Mutton and Prime Meat is recommended).
Abilities: Your newfound Best Buddy is an excellent early and mid game travel mount that can traverse the sea and Land. Ambulocetus possesses a Buff that increases its movement and Attacking speed by 30%.The Saddle Gives the Ghillie Suit effect that increases your chances to hide from dangerous Creatures.
Controls:
-Left Click: The standard Bite attack that does moderate amounts of damage
-Right Click: An Metabolic Rush Ability that will increase the movement and attacking speed by a Whopping 30% percent.
-C Click: An XP-Buff similar to the one that Lystrosaurus has (This Buff remains for 5 Minutes)
-Passive Ability: Ambulo can insulate nearby eggs like Dimetrodon, Advantage here is that it works on Land as well as Underwater.

Saurichthys
Taming: Those little Nightmares of the sea can be found mostly in large open expanses like the Open Oceans. They can be Tamed but not Ridden because they are relatively small. The best way to tame them is via an Classic KO tame. They Feed on the Same Kibble as Kaprosuchus.
Abilities: This medium Sized predator can be put into the Aquarium (a new Tsw Structure).Like Kaprosuchus they are able to snatch small to medium sized Creatures and players and drag them into the depths of Tsw.

Altispinax
Taming: Altispinax can be found in the Jungles of TSW. Throughout the day they will periodically sit down and relax. They are tamed like shadowmanes, so you must sneak up on them while they’re doing this and feed them the same food a Basilosaurus takes, it prefers fish meat.
Abilities: When tamed Altispinax is a great semi-aquatic mount that serves as an in-between tier between Baryonyx and Spinosaurus with abilities that negate pack buffs, allowing it to stand up to groups of enemies.
Controls:
-Left Click: Standard bite attack. Harvests meat.
-Right Click: Claw Swipe. Slow, but high damage and knockback. Hits depending on which direction you’re looking. Harvests sea scales/hide.
-C Button: Wrathful Chomp. Inflicts a debuff that reduces the target’s speed by 50% for 10 seconds. Larger targets require more bites for the effect to successfully apply. This attack has a 6 second cooldown, and the debuff can’t be applied for another 30 seconds after it has finished.
-Left Control: General’s Command. Altispinax will let loose a powerful roar that applies a debuff against pack creatures, reducing their damage by 20%, removing their gang bonus and making them take 20% more damage from all sources. This also clears fear effects from itself. This roar has a 30 second cooldown

Henodus
Taming: This loveable turtle bender lives in the Mangroves Swamps primarily but can also be found in the Seagrass Plains. They are a passive tame which takes Berries, Seaweeds and Regular Kibble.

Abilities: When tamed you can ride them without a saddle. Their back is also a buildable platform which allows you to use them as a mobile base. They can also be entrenched on a solid surface. While burrowed it gains a 50% damage resistance buff against most types of damage. It also creates an aura of bubbles underwater which regenerates the oxygen of nearby players. The aura itself only encompasses a sphere around the Henodus itself.
Controls:
-Left Click: Bite, harvests berries and does minor damage to enemies.
-Ctrl-Click: Burrow/Unburrow, entrenches itself onto any solid, flat surface. It leaves only its shell exposed, and takes ten seconds to burrow.

Materpiscis
Taming: Can be found swimming around in the waters of the Mangrove Swamps and the Seagrass Plains. Has the same taming time and food as Ichthyosaurus. It’s tamed passively.
Abilities: When tamed it can be ridden without a saddle, although you have the option to craft a harness for it. Like a Maewing it can be used as a feeding trough for nearby babies. It can also steal eggs without invoking the wrath of the nearby parents.
Controls:
-Left Click: Bite, deals minor damage
-Right click: Egg Grab, picks up an egg placing it into the creatures inventory
