Question about town overrides

Having the recruitable prisoner mods, what happens if you recruit for example bugmaster instead of killing it? Does it count as dead ? And how about turning it for the bounty, is this still counted as dead or alive? or is it neither

Im sure the removal of the bugmaster in any way would trigger the next event.
