Awesome Inventory

For people confused on how to use this mod for multiple outfits/costumes.
First of all, read the wiki https://github.com/Mhburg/AwsomeInventory/wiki

Still confused or lost?. Well I had some misconception before on what I could do or could not do with this mod. I wanted to have my pawns wear some normal outfit and during raids change to armor that was stored in some storage room or something, you CAN'T do that, It's different than Gear Up and Go + Better Pawn control combo. You can instead have your pawns carry two or more sets of clothing (normal cloth and armor for example) and swap between them.

Steps do that (NOW WITH IMAGES AND GIFS):
Imgur Guide [imgur.com]

1 - Click a Pawn, Go to "Gear", Click "Open Loadout", then "Make empty loadout".

2 - Click "Apparels" (t-shirt icon) or "All items" (Infinite or sideways eight) on the right panel.

3 - Select items/cloths you want, for this example select "T-shirt", "Pants", a hat if you have one, "flak helmet", "flak pants", and "flak vest".

(OPTIONAL) Close the Loadout window after this and the pawn would soon go get the items and follow vanilla Assign rules (if you don't create costumes), equiping flak items)

4 - In the Loadout window click the big C top left of the window between the gears and wish list. It will open the "Costume settings" window.

- (In this screen you will make all the outfits you want, for example work outfit and armor outfit, but only with the items you select on your wish list).

5 - Click "Create Costume" and name it as you want, for this example name it "Work Outfit".

6 - Select the items you want for this outfit, for this example select "T-shirt", "Pants" and a hat if you have one.

7 - Now click "Create Costume" again and name it "Armor Outfit".

8 - Same as 7 but select the flak items, "Flak Helmet", "Flak Vest" and "Flak Helmet".

- (At this stage you created one outfit with two costumes, you can change it as you see fit on the Gears page of every pawn, do some testing to get familiar with it)

How to Hot Swap (useful for raids):

9 - Have the pawn wear the "Worker Outfit" costume and RIGHT-CLICK the T-Shirt Button(HotSwap) bottom of the screen (where draft/undraft is. You need to have Hot-Swap actived on mod settings)

10 - Select "Armor Outfit" on the tiny menu.

11 - Now you can left-right the HOTSWAP button to immediately change from Worker Outfit to Armor Outfit. While HotSwap actived the arrows will turn blue. Click again to deactivated HotSwap and the pawn will wear the previous "Worker Outfit" costume.

TIP: You can click the Hotswap Button BEFORE or AFTER drafting, it doesnt matter, if the arrows turn blue the pawn will swap for the outfit you select when you righ-clicked it. You can then UNDRAFT, automatically deactivating HotSwap and the pawn will immediately swap for the previous costume "Worker Outfit".

Second Tip: Sometimes your pawns will not go get items from their wishlist. Mod conflicts aside, it can be because these items are outside of the pawn assigned area. Or because these items are of worse quality than you select in the wishlist (default being normal-legendary, so pawns will not get poor or awful items). To change this open pawn Loadout and click the gear of the item and change the slider.

Third tip: Usually your pawn have a limit of 35kg they can carry (based on their body type, don't quote me on this) use mods like Mercer's Backpacks (Continued), [WZRD] Carry Capacity (Continued) and I really recommend "Bulk Carrier". In fact I use all 3 (I would recommend lowering 150 carry capacity from "[WZRD] Carry Capacity" to 75, together with Bulk Carrier will make your pawn carry 37KG, only 2KG more than Vanilla, but now you can exceed vanilla hardcoded 35KG and carry more with backpacks, prosthesis, exoskeletons, etc). Bulk Carrier basically changes how carry capacity and carry mass are calculated and Carry Capacity is a easy way to tweak it how you like and not be too OP (Bulk Carrier gives you settings you can tweak too).

Why would I recommend these mods? Because Awesome Inventory forces you to carry all the clothes, armor (and items) you want in pawn inventory, limiting what they can haul or do.

Thank you for this write up. It definitely helped me a bit. Still having a few issues with pawns actually looking for the wishlist items to keep their different clothing sets in their inventory...but at least I got them to switch between outfits.

Sorry I just realized my guide was super convoluted. But glad it helped you somehow. Now I added SSs and GIFs to help clear some doubts. Hope it got easier to follow.

About your problem, look at my second tip. If that doesn't help then is probably a mod conflict. I can't help with that but last I played with Awesome Inventory I had zero problems with 300+ mods. But you can check it by only loading Core, Royalty, Awesome Inventory and create a new colony and follow the guide steps. It should work like in the GIFs:

This is so helpful, thank you so much, but one question. My pawns are keeping helmets and the vests on... the will only change to something that replaces the slot, ie. the pants... how do I fix this if I want them to just take off the helmet and vest in "worker" costume?

I don't think you can.

From wiki "Pawn won't take off apparels that are not listed in costume unless they are in conflict with those listed in costume."

You will need to use any type of Hat to switch from Helmets (and vice versa) and a Formal Vest (or any other modded middle layer cloth) to switch from Flak Vest (and vice versa)

It's usually not a big problem because later in the game pawns will all have hats but Flak Vest can be annoying because vanilla rimworld only have armors and Royalty clothes that uses middle layer, all the other clothes are skin layer and outer layer.

Of course it stops being a problem when you upgrade to proper armor (Recon, Marine, Cataphract, modded armor) because a Duster, Jacket or Parka uses the same slot, so you can switch between them easily, flak vest is just awkward.
