A small handheld device that will show you which Shinies are on the map and their positions. How precise this information is is fully configurable— please refer to Shiny Configuration and Admin Commands.


An unusual rocklike object with swirling colours, this is obtained from killing Enraged Shinies. While it is not useful in itself, it is an essential component of the Shiny Essence Prod.


A two-handed weapon resembling an electric prod, especially tuned to identify and extract the unique essence of the more powerful Shiny dinos. To craft it, you will need, in addition to more standard components, the raw essence of three Enraged dinos. To use it, strike a powerful special Shiny dino. This will prime the dino for essence extraction. Beware: it will also make it very angry. Once primed, you must kill the dino within one minute. If you succeed at this, you will be granted the essence of the Shiny you have slain.

Note that the essence prod is only tuned to extract the special abilities of the uniquely powerful, extra-special Shinies. It will not work on simple coloured Shinies. Note also that it will work only on wild Shinies. It will not work on tamed dinos.


A rainbow-coloured powdery substance obtained through extraction with the Shiny Essence Prod. You can feed this to a tamed dino of the exact same class, granting the special abilities of the Shiny from which the essence was extracted. Shiny essence is bound to the type of dino it was originally extracted from. It will only work on the same kind of dino. It will not work on a different kind of dino.


Weird blobules excreted by Spectral shinies. If you pick it up, in time it will lose its spectral properties and degrade into a more prosaic substance— oh, all kind of things, no real rhyme or reason to it. There’s nothing particularly useful about it. Why do spectrals even poop? Who can fathom the logic of ghosts?
