Ravenfield

Ravenfield

Timesplitters Venice
Structural feedback
Heyo, me again, the long-comment-guy from the kokiri map. just wanted to drop some criticism on this map and your other timesplitters one without cluttering the comment section again.

This map, along with your last one, is physically really quite nice. Like, even if it is a replica, i dunno how you manage to make something with so many crisscrossing overlapping paths, my eyes just start to dart all over the place whenever i try my hand at something like this (and the result is never as detailed). So well done there!

But what kinda infuriated me about both timesplitters maps is that both had really bogus spawn point placement and flags that the bots ignored. This one in particular has some really questionable flag placement, like the bridge flag being about 15m away from the flag in the rear building. No matter how beautiful and intricate the map is, the first priority is to make it function and flow properly for Ravenfield.

So you dont need a ton of flags close together. In fact, i'd say it's best to have fewer flags (maybe 5 or so) carefully placed, with their spawn points in *safe* zones, none o' that spawning in corridors right in the enemy's face. Bots already like to split up when attacking, so you shouldnt have to leave a trail of crumbs in the form of flags for them to follow. A Ravenfield flag should not be considered a breadcrumb, or waypoint, but as the centre of a tiny little army base. It's gotta be protected and distant from other potentially hostile bases (though less so in CQB)

The blue's right-side dock flag and one of the central flags (idk which, none of em have names) get ignored by bots. Make sure that your flags get connected properly, mismanaged neighbours can really botch a map.

And the stone bridge doesnt allow boats to pass under.

Anyway, really nice stuff, once again. I hope im not coming across as nitpicky, i just think that something with this much effort put into it deserves to be at 100% for functionality. (Also i really wanna play it but am kinda avoiding it now bc of the problems)

Cheers
