BUG ENCOUNTERED- Faction bases and enemies don't spawn when you raid them
Hey Oskar, I'm encountering a problem where when I initiate an attack on a faction base it doesn't spawn and immediately gives me the message "faction base destroyed" even though there was no one to fight.

This was encountered on a medieval play through with the storyteller Maynard Medieval. Note, this is the first time I raided a faction base.

I've ran through a process of elimination detailed below.

1.My mod list was quite extensive so I disabled every mod except for Harmony, Core, Ideology, Royalty, Hugslib, and mod manager in that order.

2. I play with CE, so I first install CE and check that I can attack faction bases immediately after starting. No issues generating enemies and base.

3. Next, I install CE and Basically all of the VE modlist deemed compatible with combat extended Plus a few that aren't listed but I thought weren't a big deal (Architect, trading,plants). And ran a medieval play through. Faction bases and enemies don't spawn when I raid them on day 1. Resulting in "faction base destroyed".

4. Next, I UNINSTALL CE AND RUN PURELY VANILLA EXPANDED MODS. Starting story, "a new Kingdom" storyteller: Maynard Medieval. Settled two tiles away from faction base, sent a caravan to raid. Upon arrival on the map I noticed it was once again empty, after unpausing the game I received a "faction base destroyed message.

Logs? I really can’t even begin looking into it without hugslib logs.

Reinstalled and verified files. Upon starting new game with only Vanilla expanded, facial anims, and retill the same problem occurs. I have yet to try with a different faction other than medieval

Started a new game crashlanded with Cassandra Classic with the same modlist. Chose to raid the settlers faction after starting. They spawn as normal.

Same settings and storyteller chose to raid medieval faction after dropping. Upon entering map for raid the base doesn't exist and there are no enemies. Unpause and "base destroyed" with faction relation change but no fight occurred.

Same issue occurs for clans, republics.

Factions that work just fine: Settlers, Mercenaries, Insectoid Hives,Junkers, Tribes...

ughh that took awhile. Guess I'll be doing a sci fi only playthrough. Hope you get it worked out. I love your mods

The weird thing is I ran into this before and thought it was something to do with not having outlander and pirate factions at world generation, since someone in the comments on VFE Medieval mentioned that, so I tried making a new world with those enabled, used dev mode to teleport to a kingdom base, and it generated just fine. But something must have changed between then and now because they're not spawning again.

I found a work around. If a base doesn't generate for me, then if I revert the save, turn off the game, start it up with no mods, generate a world, restart the game with mods active, in dev mode, then reload the original save, then the base generates correctly.

The issue will come up again in the same save eventually, but repeating the above stops it again.

I am also having this issue. Though I should note on my end, upon generation of the tile the game freezes and buffers for around 30 seconds before the map loads. Map is completely empty and I get the "base destroyed" notif.

Interesting, I just tried this and it worked for me too, was able to send someone to a medieval settlement and it spawned correctly.

Now that I think about it, I did something similar the first time I encountered this issue - I went to a medieval faction base, had the spawn glitch, closed the game, checked the comments on VFE Medieval and saw someone say it had something to do with not having outlander factions in your world, which was the case with mine. Since I assumed that would fix it, I also downloaded VFE Vikings since I'd have to be restarting anyway. Started a new game, went to a medieval base just to test, and it worked fine.

So, I suspect disabling every mod might not be necessary, I think that either changing the modlist in any way might do it, or it's specifically about adding/removing a mod affected by this glitch (which so far seem to be Vikings, Classical, Medieval, and Mechanoids - VFE mods with custom faction bases, it would seem). I'll try to test it out some more tomorrow.

i had this issue as well and after trying everything i finally bit the bullet and simply deleted all files related to rimworld on my computer, uninstalled the game and then reinstalled with all my mods and all of a sudden it worked. Some mods like the Ts samurai faction mod will make the bases not generate but thats the only mod ive found that breaks base gen, other mods that adds other new factions might break it but idk.

So yeah if u have tried everything and its still not working try a complete clean new install and it might work(did for me at least). Plus rimworld isnt a big game nor are the mods so uninstalling and installing takes no time at all :).

My only solution was to play without the affected factions. I'm hoping the mechanoids aren't affected.
I had this issue too.

If you don't spawn only pawns but you have a base, these are Alpha memes with the Vow of nonviolence trait because pawns can't attack because of ideology.
Also, when faction bases didn't spawn, I tried to disable RimThreaded and that seemed to help.

@Finkavoy, I've heard of many issues with Rimthreaded in terms of compatibility. I use rocketman and previously Runtime CG but they aren't the cause of this issue. I reached out to VE creators and they tried to replicate but they couldn't
