Thats the stuff i had in mind, hope that'll help in developing the mod further, as this one looks the most promising IMO.
colonization it's booring - 4/5 or more of lands is uninhabited..
As to Mongols/Oirat, I'd like to have the various East Asian nations interact a lot more than just through the current gameplay. How do you feel about various decisions/events that give the countries choices as to which foreign powers they want to ally or rival, such as allowing the Han Claimants to choose a single Korean country to support (giving extra relations, some bonus related to the country's ideas, and negative opinion with the other Korean countries)? I think that'd help create a more dynamic political landscape, as well as get the player to figure out how they want to play instead of just allying with the power that seems the strongest. Ideally this would affect the Steppe Nomads as well, so the Manchu hordes and Mongols/Oirat could team up as a sort of 'crusade' against the Chinese kingdoms (simulating the Mongol invasions).
@Legoras - It is possible to add a Japanese tech group. Why do you think this should be added? Also, we have plans for the currently desolate continents (North America/South America/Africa/Australia) so keep your eye out for future updates!
@Wandering Bear - What do you mean by reforming the political landscape? We'd like to change around trade a bit, though currently it seems there may be optimization issues when it comes to changing around trade (adding trade routes at least, not as sure about trade nodes). Hopefully this is fixed soon so we can make some changes. What ideas did you have in mind for the trade nodes?
For the idea of allying yourself with a certain power in Korea/Anywhere else, well, i don't currently see how it would be different from a regular alliance besides the bonuses that come from the decision, but am really interested in what may come out of it, as i always thought that the diplomacy in this game needs some spicing up. And for the Mongol invasions, i have an idea. Just give the Oirat/Mongol cores on the boundary provinces (Yes, pretty much meaning, that Wu would be safe from it, as they currently seem the most inferior kingdom in china, because their fleet is pretty much useless for the most of the chinese infighting), and give the kingdoms with those cores events, which spawn a stack, or maybe a few stacks of Horde rebels. Will as well give Hordes' an additional reason to invade.
Last thing that came to my mind while playing my inglorious Wu campaign, is that such a number of vassals is a major pain for me. While this looked awesome in theory, my vassals stick too much of their troops to my main army stack, that i start having huge attrition even in my own lands (Which hurts, especially with the extremely limited manpower i have). And if they dont, they just go and suicide, as unlike my ai opponents, i can't synchronise my own maneuvers as well, making me experience a huge butthurt over the chaos raging around me. Maybe remake some of them into other major powers of the era, such as the Yuan family? This will also give room for some history-inspired diplomatic events. (I think an event just outright throwing you into a war with a certain state would make for a more dynamic campaign) Or i just need to buckle up and adapt? :D
With the trade nodes i honestly didnt have an idea, i'm just personally interested in them being moved around and modified to add a difference in gameplay. For example, myself personally, have created a trade node for just portugal, or have changed the nodes of venice, genua and ragusa. Whatever you come up with i'd happily try out :) But that is just a personal oppinion of mine
I think it'd be interesting to have a map with completely changed trade nodes, even if the provinces that belong to each trade node were changed drastically. Potential future update? ;)
- Expand time limits either before 1444 or after 1821, given the evolution of nations and trying to unify countries. Plus, more time spent playing this awesome mod, the better.
- More native tribes in Africa, Australia, and North/South America. Maybe instead of just "neutral" spots for nations to colonize, they have to claim them from their inhabitants. Might open up for casus belli for and against European nations. This way too, it'll give the natives something to do in the early game.
- More resources/trade nodes/monopoly effects. 'Nuff said. Also, more casus belli for trade disputes or perhaps the ability to forge them?
- More diplomatic options like defensive alliances, offers to buy provinces instead of just selling them, etc.
- Removal of wasteland tiles. You could make those the "neutral colonization" tiles since they're so remote.
- Possible terrain changes. Each province is a certain biome which sometimes gives bonuses or penalties, though over time, these might change with weather changes (just an idea).
That's all I got for meow.
Also, could the vassal system in the oriental east be removed? Was greatly disapointed to see all those vassals.
1. Naxos and Corfu should also have Western unit sprites
2. To continue on with what Metzge just said, would you consider integrating the Timeline 9999 mod or making something similar? Indeed, the more available timeframe to play this mod, the better!
