Warring States - FAQ
Q: How do I play the mod?
A: Subscribe to the mod on the main Description page. This will start the download. You must launch the game once before the mod will be available. Launch Europa Universalis IV, exit out, then launch it again to see the Warring States mod on the side of the launcher. Click the box next to it until it is checked, then start the game!

Q: My game is not working or is crashing within the first few months.
A: Make sure you aren't running any other mods along with Warring States, as most of them will cause compatibility issues. Random errors can occur if you are playing in a language other than English, as Warring States only has English localization. Problems can also occur if you are playing on a Mac.

Q: Countries in North America have the wrong religion/tech group/etc
A: These are all intended. Catholic and Confucian countries in North America start out as Totemism but switch to their accurate state religion within the first month. This is done in response to a Paradox bug that affected vision of the new world when generating a Random New World. As for the tech groups, the descriptions of each in country selection are not accurate. South American has 200% tech cost and -1 power, while North American has 200% tech cost and -2 power. This is for game balance. Testing with better tech costs led to the Native countries overruning any countries trying to colonize the New World, or taking every province before countries other than Portugal could colonize. We wanted each European country the chance to colonize if they choose to do so. NA and SA also have Native Advancements while the New World tech countries do not.

Q: I cannot improve vassal relations past 100.
A: This is not a bug, but a change to the gameplay. An event can occur after 1465 that will give you +140 relations with your vassal, allowing annexation unless you have too many negative opinion modifiers. [Removed in current version, allowing relations to 200]

Q: Can you create X country, or make a country in X area?
A: Yes we can! If you would like a certain country, please let us know. However, we are quite busy and have many other things to work on as well - if you can, give us information about the country you would like, such as a name, ruler, what kind of personality they should have, and their relations with nearby countries. Any historical countries or possibilities will work as long as they add flavour to the game and don't cause problems with the current gameplay.
