Simply put they look ugly and are utterly pointless, and can be a huge hindrance for mods that award progress towards a random research, or even randomize what is researched altogether. It's fine for them to be in beta/dev builds of the mod, but they need to be removed/hidden in the public releases, so that quest rewards/game mechanics aren't wasted on research that do literally nothing and are just WIP placeholders.
