Ability Design Choice : Cooldown vs Rage/Mana
Currently, this MOD use a Cooldown system for Abilities. But there is a drawback of Cooldown. Players will try to use ability after cooldown just to gain more experience.

I'd like to switch to a Rage/Mana system. Skills use Rage and Spells use Mana. Heroes gain Rage from attack or being attacked. And they replenish Mana every turn. Then players will use Skill/Spell based on need of battle instead of Cooldown.

I want to know your ideas about the design. Which system is better? Or should we use both Cooldown and Rage/Mana together?

I just subed this and plan to go try it out immediately. Love the idea! Reminds me of Warcraft III. I hope it's compatible with the other mods I typically play with...

To answer your question, I like the idea of the Rage/Mana system.

I think you should use rage and mana but the more powerful abilities have short cooldowns

I don't really see XP mining as a problem. Most of the abilities can't be used unless there is a target to use them on. This creates an incentive to always be at war, which is kind of its own punishment, in my opinion.

The problem I see from this is that Spells are currently the best way to farm xp spamming them on barbians, even the one that can't affect Barbs Tanut. Changing to rage/mana would put that into overdrive since a mage can safely sit back and cast magic while warriors would have to be wasting time fighting to get power. Rangers have the best of both.

discussion on other forums shows rage/mana has weakness too
player will always use the best ability and the others never used
only use both system together is a better way, but quite complex

will stop Tanut on Barbs in next version

Definitely like the idea of mana over cooldowns. I definitely abuse the magic spells to get extra experience as much as I can. I am an exploiter ahha. Also, it is Taunt not Tanut :)
