Games like PTO?
I have played quite a few pacific naval games since this came out 30 years ago but nothing matches PTO. Is there anything that comes close to the feeling this game had?

Maybe PTO 2 and 4 but nothing really comes close that works right. Pacific storm allies scratched that itch until it crashes as its too unstable.

Have you tried War on the Sea or Victory at Sea: Pacific? They are kind of the same flavor but I agree nothing is like PTO 1 & 2. PTO IV was pretty decent too but I didn't like the restricted map.

If you set things up just right I have had a straight naval war going on in the Pacific in HOI4. Takes a lot of work because 1936 isn't 1941. Also, fleets just don't move the same in HOI4 as PTO or PTO2.

I have been playing Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts and it's pretty good. The ship designer allows you to recreate historical ships to a high degree. Playing as Japan now and my Yamato and Fuso look 90% identical to their real life counterparts and have helped me gain total control over East Asia and Pearl Harbor. Very addicting, and highly recommended if you enjoyed PTO.
