W990 - Mod Longevity
Hello,
To keep it simple, I'll get straight to the point. I am becoming more reluctant to use truck mods due to various issues but primarily abandoned support. I would like to understand how long is this truck envisaged to be up-to-date for? Is it worth becoming reliant upon it? It is about to be my favorite vehicle in the game but I would like to avoid disappointment like with RJL.
Unfortunately, I am not prepared to become modder myself due to other engagements and I have to rely on courtesy of the community.
I guess I am looking for some piece of mind. That the truck is still going to be here in a year from now...

Honestly, I'm also a bit reluctant for the same reasons. In fact... I've never used a mod truck. After trying it out just now, I feel like this is one that I actually have active.

I have noticed that Harven is pretty good about updating mods he makes. I would venture to say that you could rely on this truck to be updated a year from now.

It literally says on the main page:
"Updated: Jul 26 @ 6:15pm"

...in other words, this truck *has* been updated for the current ATS version (1.45), as it has been promptly (within a few days to a week of the version release) for every game update since it's come out.

If for whatever reason the updated version hasn't downloaded to your computer automatically, you may need to try:
* Restarting Steam
* If that doesn't work, unsubscribe and re-subscribe to the mod to force a re-download

It's a known issue with Steam that it sometimes fails to pick up mod updates automatically, so these workarounds are things people need to be aware of. The unsubscribe/resubscribe trick has always worked for me (I've had to do it a few times).

Note also that if you want to avoid a gap where you can't play the game for a few days when new game versions are released before your mods are updated, you can tell Steam to keep you on the old game version temporarily by selecting the "beta" channel for that version in settings. Once all your mods have been updated (usually within a few days for well-maintained mods like this one) you can switch back to the main release branch.

Hey there. As this truck is going to be the successor of the W900, they already added the optional 2-piece flat glass so that way Kenworth could keep some of the memory of the W900 alive. The thing I do like about the W990 is that when they made the steering wheel, they found a way to be as close to as true to the times as they could. That was because when the W900 entered production, we didn't have buttons on the steering wheel. Back then, the steering wheel was just basic. A rim with three spokes.
