Just doesn't help, Mod looks amazing and bought the game for it but will have to refund unfortunately.
I own both GOG and steam version of FOC.
The 4 gb ram patch works for the GOG version and make mods such as the remake mod run alot smoother than steam.... But u cant load save games on the GOG version... so its a choice between two evils...
I run GOG version for custom skirmish with big battles and steam for Galatic conquest ;)
If only steam had that 4 GB ram patch working it would be awesome hehe
There is a 4GB patch in the folder of this mod, I used it and it did work.
Still it made it so I have 10 fps instead of 1 (during big battles), so it doesn't do enough unfortunately.
Are you implying that it's difficult to mod the fighter/bomber squads? That's what the modders of Sins of A Solar Empire did and it definitely improved performance.
Not overly difficult, but the mod in particular changed how fighters behave and added numerous variants. In the base game a typical bomber squad was 3 craft and fighters were 5-7 in a squadron. Here we have 9 bombers and up to 18 fighters per squad, ramping up the number of calculations per second the game engine has to deal with.
86x ugly in galactic conquest are 860 fighters only take up 86 supply while a 200 supply army gets killed with ez. i lost 5 uglys in the process.
idk why we have so freaking many fighters in each squadron. fighters had been crap before, cause there had been much better ways to kill fighters. now fighter screening has gotten much worse and we have insane numbers of fighters. so anti ship and anti starbase is best in the hands of starfighters and well the anti starfighter screening as well.
starbases suck as well. lvl 5 starbases cost 78k!!! in conquest, but a venator already pushes it to its limit. not mentioning starfighters ...
So I've concluded that some mods just run better than others.
