Addressing the Lack of Land Content
Decided to have a nice big pinable page just for this topic because no one is reading the FAQ for the most asked question there is.

LAND IS GONE. (For now)
Why?
Because it was unmodded and took away from all the other actually modded content
You'd play the modded and beautiful GC, fight a modded and stunning space battle, then play a ugly boring vanilla land battle or make a doomstack of land units and auto-resolve every land battle.

When will land content get reworked? In the far future.
Tons of other more important things are being done from adding more GC content, new ships, new station and tech system, new VO, and many other things that will always have priority over the mode of the game that now that's it's gone doesnt need any focus given to it until we feel like it.
A full plan for what is to be done is made on the long 3go_manifesto channel of the discord that explains in detail the plans we will do when we finally decide to stop on the best parts of the game and try to salvage the mess that is land combat in this game.
Until that time the mod had removed land so nothing distracts and takes you away from all the modded content and there's no downside other than the loss of a broken mess from vanilla since nothing in land was modded when we removed it.

Have you considering having the tech tree based on the station development?? For both research and construction (2 seperate trees).. Also, in rebels they had smaller stations such as the hospital station.. just ideas... loving the mod!! Want to see more!

Nothing from Rebels will be added to the mod.
We will in the future have a station rework that replaces the tech levels with shipyards, colonies and other things that together give you different ship options and bonuses depending on what you build. See the #validusia-megastation channel of the discord.

I think we all know that space combat is the only good combat. Leave land battles the way they are: nonexistent.
Thanks.

A Clone Wars version of the mod is planned for the future

The fact that the land combat is gone is purely a bonus. Thanks for that.

I'm honestly surprised that revamping the ground combat isn't one of the highest priorities right now.

I mean, I'll not lie the ground combat is one half of the game and some of us liked that despite how bad it was and the great majority apparently hating it, leaving it unmodded is basically cutting half of the game off even though the job that's been done with the space combat of the game so far is nothing short of fantastic for a game this old, no one probably thought the game would ever look as well as it does in this mod, it's essentially a fan-made Empire at War 2.

I'm probably in the minority but I'm someone that won't play a mod if it leaves a part of the game completely untouched/cut, it ruins the immersion and I won't play the mod until the ground battles of the game eventually do get around to being modded.

However, the work so far is extremely exciting to see and gets me hyped even more for seeing what you guys do to the ground section of the game. Keep up the good work guys. The mod has the potential to be one of if not the best mod ever made for this game.

i prefer ground battles over space battles and i didnt see anything wrong with the battles(although some planets were impossible to win)just add them back the way they were and make tweaks later

So I picked this game up recently and have been loving it. Just figured out about all the mods so have been looking through them. First let me say this one is impressive! Thank you to everyone involved for their hard work. The effort has paid off.

Now on to the topic of no ground forces...

I'm sorry, but I fail to understand why ground combat and forces were turned off. For those who didn't like ground combat, there was auto resolve. For those that liked ground combat, then they liked it with the old graphics to begin with. In sort, everyone had options and there was an extra layer of management required.

By turning off the ground combat, one of these groups lost their option. It also made the strategic conquest more one dimensional without having to worry about garrisons to defend planets and strike forces to conquer others.

Could it at least be added back in as a choice that the user can make? I don't know how difficult the coding would be, but there is already a 3 faction, 1 planet and 3 faction, 10 planet start option. Could a 3 faction, 1 planet w/ ground combat be added? 10 planet w/ ground forces?

Id prefer you focus on finding a way to fix frame rates within larger battles. Even if the game is flawed, there must be some sort of solution.

Seconded regarding finding some way to fix framerates in largish space battles. GTX 1080, 16gb ram - etc etc and I've been really struggling to find some combination of fixes that result in playability.

But it looks great and I still find myself trying again fairly regularly.

It's good to get rid of all ground forces. However, the hyperspace gun must be returned. That's a very important tactical means of stopping massive enemy attacks.
