Titan Quest Anniversary Edition

Titan Quest Anniversary Edition

Skill Reworks
Editing / Removing Skills that are edited.
So I've been working to edit some of the skills that have been changed via this mod. This primarily took place because currently, the Guardian Stones Skill is not usable when this mod is applied. I was able to follow the Author's guide for merging bounce mods in order to access the files via the Art Manager. By renaming the file Menhiralter.dbr to CBmenhiralter.dbr (my initials), I was able to deactivate it. So far so good.

Now I am trying to do the same with the force shield (woven armor) change. I found several files that refer to the force shield in the records / xmax2 skills folder. I renamed all of them. I also found a file associated with it in the ui subfolder. reanamed that too. But alas, when I load up a modded game and check the skill, it still shows the modded stuff, not the original damage absorption.

What am I missing?

I mentioned "rerouting" skills earlier, and force field is the one that got this treatment.
Basically, it's an entirely different skill now (independent from the original one enemies still use), so to deactivate it, you'll have to remove/rename other files. And it would be great if I knew which ones, but I'll have to reinstall TQ first so I have access to the Art Manager (new system). And I probably need to search my backup for my old files too, lol.

Yeah, I've been searching everywhere, can't figure it out. I was opening the DBR files and trying to see if I could see any file pathing that would lead me to the right files. No Luck. I mean, your changes seem to be in the file 'forceshieldbuffmod.dbr'. This is not the original file for the skill, as that is 'forceshieldbuff.dbr'. But I can't find what links to it.

Alright, I got my files and the Art Manager back, so here goes:
The file in question is /records/xpack2/ui/skills/mastery10/skill03.dbr
Deleting or renaming this should stop the game from rerouting the skill, so after that, rename or delete the forceshield.dbr and forceshieldbuff.dbr just to be sure, and you should be good to go.

Yeah, I already found, and renamed that file. Didn't work. I had that file, along with all the other files containing "forceshield" renamed with my initials in front (ie CBforceshield.dbr, CBskills03.dbr). When I renamed this file, and looked in the game, the icon on the masteries screen was missing (for the shield), and there was a small red X below it. So that's why I'm confused. What else could be rerouting this?

Update. So I did an experiment. I just renamed all the files in the run mastery, along with the skills03.dbr. THAT finally fixed it. So I'm going to reapply them one by one and figure it out.

And final update: I found the culprit file. So I had to turn off the forceshield files, and the skills03 file, and the final file that needed to be turn off was the "runemaster_skilltree.dbr". Turning that off restored the original icon, and the skill. Thanks for all your quick responses, and for your guide on learning to merge bounce mods. Not only did I accomplish my goal, but I learned alot along the way!

Great to hear it worked out in the end. I didn't think of the skilltree file, but yeah, makes sense. And good to see you enjoy figuring out stuff yourself, I know how rewarding that is.
If you have any further questions in the future, feel free to ask them here.
