Arma 3
Stratis Fallout Survival MP V1.3.3 [RESPAWNS]
Personal Feedback
Heya there, recently been playing around with this scenario and it's quite a bit of fun. I'm a long-time fan of the Fallout series, and I wanted to toss in my ideas of what I think will really make this not only more fun, but more of a Fallout-esque feeling (instead of it just being post-apocalypse) and ask some questions as well. This is also about the MP version specifically, not so much the SP version, as I'm keeping in mind there will be more than 1 player. Questions first.

1) Are there plans to introduce more aspects of survival, like eating and drinking? I read somewhere you're already planning to add radiation, which I think is great addition and a must in any remotely Fallout-like universe.

2) In regards to the radiation - will there be hazmat suits or vehicles you can use to avoid the ill effects (or reduce them)?

3) Are there any plans to implement caps and NPC traders into the scenario?

4) Are there plans to introduce any of the RPG elements, like perks or exp?

And just random suggestions, opinions and things.

A) I'm unable to respawn when I host this as a LAN game. When any player dies, they stay dead, and when they all die, mission is over.

B) I saw this mentioned in another post, but I think it's worth mentioning again: the AI seems to mostly stand around and wait for me to attack. Things like patrols and sentries, or even roving groups of bandits would make the world feel a bit more "alive" and dangerous.

C) Any place you can add '50s music will go miles to getting toward that Fallout feeling. Even a simple "I just wanna set the world on fire" in the intro would be pretty cool, ya dig?

D) I think MP should have more focus on player-survivors grouping together than shooting each other. Keep the option as it stands now to join any team so people have options I suppose, but I think Wasteland does the survival PvP very well already, and DayZ standalone isn't too far off. I think a multiplayer, cooperative Fallout game (or even Fallout-style) is long overdue, and I've been waiting for one since Tactics released. In a nutshell, I think this would benefit from a focus on content, and not PvP-centric action.

E) Also said in different post, but less ammo and goods in vehicles would be great. I think ammo boxes/caches are right on - they should have stuff in them, but finding Ifrits with 2 rifles, 25-30 assorted grenades and 15 first aid kits takes away any real incentive to scavenge more stuff.

F) Any way you can make the world more deadly is typically a bonus in Fallout. I understand it's not exactly easy to add in Radscorpions and Deathstalkers, but in general, more AI and wandering AI would greatly improve that, and make the world feel more alive. It's the constant sense of impending doom and, for most of the game, feeling really squishy that makes Fallout games so much fun.

G) Like Fallout games, the more you can make to scavenge and explore, the better. They don't all need big burning wrecks near them, but random piles of dead bodies (like aftermaths of other battles) or not-smoldering-vehicle-wrecks (like one that flipped over). The coast and water around Stratis has amazing potential for shipwrecks and bits of things to scavenge on the ocean-floor (not to mention other divers). Make it feel like a lot was destroyed to really convey that armageddon feeling. Not sure how much water/coast area Altis will have, but don't neglect the water, please!

So far, I really love the concept and where this seems to be headed. I didn't want to critique much of the Stratis-specific stuff, like camp placements and such, because I know a lot will change once Altis comes, and even more when Arma 3 leaves the last phases of Beta. Can't wait to see more of this from you guys. Thanks for reading.

First of all mog thnks very much for your feedback, we appreciate people that take the time to give us some good feedback so we can possibly get to work on it! Radiation has been added to the singleplayer and may at some point be added to the multiplayer. At the moment we have no plans to add a hunger bar. We are trying to make it so that if you have a "Rebreather" used by the divers you can survive in radiation zones. We have no plans to implement any npc's into the multiplayer or any form of curency. There are some npc's in the singleplayer. Perks or exp, maybe (Keep an eye out for the Altis version). A) Yeah i've updated it and fixed that! B) There are plenty of patrols, many of the AI standing around are usually guarding strategic places like bases or vehicle depot's. C) I know excactly what you mean my friend, yesterday I spent a while trying to add a sort of car radio with 50's music from fallout. It's unlikely we will add this to the Stratis version but when the Altis version will be released I can almost guarantee it! D) We had plans to release a Fallout Survival 2 based 50 hours after the first one (Singleplayer) where a team of spec ops is sent in to investigate the situation on the island. We cancelled this but it would have been a coop. E) Thats a fair point i'll work on that at some point. F) I've been planning to add more frequent and more heavily armed patrols so i'll probably get onto that at some point! G) This will probably be added to the Altis version when its released as we really want to go into detail with the wrecks! - Hope this awnsers all of your questions!

Thanks, Brown, for answering my questions and responding! I'm even more excited for future releases. I think that's a pretty clever use of the rebreather, too, I didn't even think about it. I guess I'm getting lucky with those patrols, lol. Guess I need to play it more. :D
