How to move the scenario map file into your maps folder
To play the scenario, you'll need to move the map from the mod's folder to your map folder.

First, in Windows you need to press the 'WIN Key - e' key combination on your keyboard to open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).

Using Explorer, navigate to the mod's folder, usually located some place like:

C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\SMAN's World at War Scenario - The War in Europe (WW2) (v 1)

Where 'XXXX' is the folder name that you installed the game in.


Inside the mod's folder, there is a 'MAPS' folder - click on this.


Inside the 'MAPS' folder, you should see the map file, called:

WAW Scenario - World War II in Europe.Civ5Map


The full path is:

C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\SMAN's World at War Scenario - The War in Europe (WW2) (v 1)\MAPS\WAW Scenario - World War II in Europe.Civ5Map

Finally, you need to copy this file and place it in the game's 'Maps' folder, usually located some place like this:

C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Maps


Once the map file is moved, you should be able to find it using the instructions provided in the slides.

i dont see any folder called maps in the mod file all i see is an ART file and a DATABASE file

There are 5 folders in the mod: ART, DATABASE, LUA, MAPS, and UI. Doesn't look like the mod completely downloaded.

I think you need to clear the game cache to force a fresh download.

If you don't want to do this, then you'd need to unsubscribe and restart CivV and look in the Mods area again, or simply delete this mod's entire folder - either way, to force a fresh download.

ive cleared the cache deleted then reinstalled the mod a bunch of times and the second time it still only downloaded the 2 folders ART and DATABASE and now it wont even download any of the files even tho it said it did in steam

is there anywhere i can download the mod outside of steam? because steam seems to be the reason i cant download the mod properly

The mod is 35MB, so it's too large to upload on Civfanatics. I don't have any other way of uploading it anywhere.

I wonder if you can open a ticket with Steam about it?

The mod's folder is in the game's mods folder, usually someplace like:

C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS

Where 'XXXX' is the user account name that you installed the game in. You'll need to open Windows Explorer (press WIN-Key + 'e key' at the same time). Then navigate to the game's MODS folder.

If the mod's folder isn't listed in the game's MODS folder, then Steam hasn't downloaded it for some reason. Google has many things to try - to force a download.


@Chicken - be sure to enable the mod as well - before you navigate to the scenario map/sekect enable scenario.

I went through the process, but when I got to the part where I have to click on the xxxx folder, It wasn't in folder form

Sorry for the delay responding. "XXXX" - is the account name where you installed the game in Windows. It's not literally those four letters. Try to look wherever "My Games" is located. The folder about that should be what "XXXX" should be replaced with.

I have the mod enabled, ive copied the map file and when I select the map in setup game I tick load scenario but its just a random leader so I can't play
