Not sure on conditions for obtaining, I got it while fighting a small Song force while marshal of the Han, so about 800 vs 150. If I were to guess it is based on number of wins in battle or perhaps wins when marshal or just with superior numbers.
0.Save time with the let heroes choose loot option, it's done much better than other mods.
1.Forget compatible parties: use wine for my brothers option in taverns for a 25 morale boost on all heroes. You can have all of them constantly, no problem if you have the gold to sustain it. It's 30 gold per hero, so not impossible to sustain on e regular basis
2. Do as much of the main quest asap to unlock the ransom brokers giving higher prices for prisoners
3. You need honor to recruit the heroes you mindread into your party, so every time you see a farmer in a tavern, do the quest and refuse the reward from the village.
4. Speaking of which, the save the village quest is a great way to farm kills for legendary weapons. That and bandit hideouts who won't feature strong troops, but rather specific looters and regular looters. Once your hero is decently strong with good gear, have your party hold position and hold fire and you farm 30-40 kills per hideout for your weapon pretty risk free. Same for the villages.
5. Leveling up companions: unlike other mods, don't blindly go for the usual typologies, but prioritize the attribute that synergizes with their career. This will help with your castles and city fiefs and your camp in terms of how well the buildings/upgrades work. Higher career level and attribute positively affect how much the buildings gain xp, let's call it that, per week
For central building : building - career - attribute
Downtown - Titan - CHA
Training - Barkeeper - STR
Stable - Herder - AGI
Workshop - Artisan - INT
Camp - Warrior - STR
Farm - Farmer - CHA
Market - Merchant - INT
For camp I can only say with certainty that the main camp captain's needed career seems to be Playboy, but not sure about main attribute for that. The camp menu will show you expected efficiency for each option, so you won't get it totally wrong, and will even mention the career.
Bear in mind a very important difference: whoever you name as a camp or sub-camp captain LEAVES your party (i think they can always rejoin if you ask them), but for the buildings in your fief, including the camp (Not to be confused with the camp you can build once you acquire Li Si), they do not, so appoint them without fear. Don't worry too much about staffing your camp since you have so many lords you can recruit to fill in for the lost party members.
Last note: I have not finished the game, I still need to experiment with the camp, I suspect the lords you recruit would make better captains, but it might not be sacrificing them for that, not sure about the camp efficiency being worth it. I plan to update this section as I know more.

It will give you an idea what to arm your hero with depending on chosen career and main attribute. Take note that for buildings, Barkeeper, a CHA based career also needs STR, and Titan, a STR based career also needs CHA.
