There are 2 ways of completing a mind reading task the good one (max hp > 50%) and the bad one (max hp < 50%). Completing a mind reading would grant 9/8 renown. Failing the quest would cost 4 renown.
The good one will grant you 30 relation with the lord, a legendary item (L), a upgraded (U) weapon/ armor/ mount, an increase of attribute/skill/ proficiency, liang or renown
The bad one will grant you 20 relation with the lord and 2500 liang. You can reset the mission with Hong Xin but you will lose 25 relation with the lord and 3000 liang.
After the first mind reading remember to go back to Hong Xin, he will give you an elixir that will restore your health during a mind reading mission. The elixirs are a one time use except the one you get from the [mind reader] title. You can get more elixirs from Hong Xin for 100 scores, you get scores by defeating outlaws: Looters (1), Mountain Bandits (2), Flowery Bandits (2), Sea Raiders (3), Steppe Bandits (3), Deserters (3), Tundra Bandits (3), Desert bandits (3), Daijin (4).

Sub-task: Three Attacks on the Zhujiazhuan
For this special mind reading you need 3 companions Gu DaSao [Female Tiger], Hu Sanniang [Ten feet of Blue] and Zhu Biao. To activate it you need to approach Zhujiazhuan castle, if Zhu talks to you just enters the castle and rest until the mission activates. (Luan Tingyu [Iron Staff] join your team, the all 4 companions get title [Memory in Zhu], 5k exp)
