Maybe I'll separate them into videos based on the country the guys are from, so all the Sha Lords or all of the Shu lords.
Also, the taoist gains class EXP from inflict damage with their magic.
So there's some strategy here in picking this as your main class with a class change rather than keeping your old class.
Its been taking me forever to level up Hwang's taoist skill. In normal field battles it seems he's not getting in close enough to people to kill them with his aura. I probably ought to try taking away his throwing weapons so that he gets into the thick of the fighting more, but he probably won't survive long that way. The one situation where he really excels, though, is sieges where everyone's packed in close. In 2 separate sieges he was in the top 3 killers and that's the only times he ever got any taoist xp. I can only imagine how devastating he could be with a stronger aura if only I could get him to level it up.
I invested in his strength stat totally and put my strongest gear on him. The best way to make him level up is to send him to fight groups of looters without a horse.
In my own experiments, I've hit up to 25 people with my taoist aura at the same time while surrounded. It's possible to gain EXP and kill a large number of people IF they all die at the same time and you're under however many kills you need to go "on fire."
The EXP is still slow though and it would take a lot of battles to grind him up. The most annoying part is that his aura will probably kill only 12 people per fight before he ends up going "on fire." And then you have to find another group of people for him to kill.
The other way is putting him in charge at a center building, which is something he'll do by himself if you make him into a general.
It's much easier to level up other classes though.
I didn't think Taoist had a center building to train it that way. I put him in charge of a college, but i think that will only level his Academic skill (which is also not a bad career, btw, it makes enemies instantly surrender)
Man, what a chore this'll be. But I guess it's worth it to grind him into a murder machine, huh?
I turned mine into a combat guy and rely on AI Lords for their party skills. Many of them are maxed out.
I recently found out that Looting actually can be leveled to 15, and I believe the best looter in the game is [Flea on a Drum] at 10 points, so if you want legendary weapons, you should level looting up yourself. You'll get a +4 (or I think actually a +5) bonus at looting 15 which should basically triple the amount of loot you get per battle.
I think this is absolutely mandatory if you play with a lot of heroes, because they each take 3 shares of loot where a regular troop takes 1.
So on my save with my Actor/Beauty who only uses companions in battle, she's never looted a single legendary or stone. I think just once she got one of those jade rings.
Meanwhile I have another character with high looting who can get one of these every 5 battles, depending on how outnumbered she is and if she's fighting lords. It was actually pretty funny. I got 83 cows from raiding a village.
On the first game I leveled up [Street Crossing Rat] to get high agility super high so he can get looting skill. On the second, I leveled looting myself. Also really helps with cash flow issues.
I'm debating on the bare minimum amount of CHA I need to actually reach 10 trade. There's legenaries that boost your trade skill. There's a book that gives you another point. There's probably a mind reading quest that gives trade skill as a reward. And there's a trait that gives you trade.
So I think at 6 points you can get these other boosts and reach 10 points. I did the calculations and at 10 trade on the main character I earn like 42% more money from sales of my goods.
High looting is definitely worthwhile. I've got my character up to 11, so I've been getting plenty of legendaries. I've been getting tons of polearms for some reason. More than I can even use. I'm hoping for some bows or throwing weapons, or armor.
I've got Wang Jiajiao at 10 Trade so I'm getting good prices. She's well suited for that as she has good charisma. Li Shishi also comes with a dagger that gives +5 CHA and I think at least 1 point of trade. Her own CHA is already maxed out, so she doesn't need any more.
I also learned that Yun Ge ( I think that's his name, the travelling merchant who sells the mystery prizes) is definitely worth buying from. You'll get alot of high priced garbage, but eventually if you buy enough from him, he'll compensate you with a really good legendary weapon
I read on this forum that selling slaves to the cannibal will eventually have him reward you with a legendary hammer, but the amount is much greater than 200. I'll tell you how it turns out when I get it.
keep doing to refresh it and he will spawn
I really hope that the reward he gives isn't random. I CTD'd just after I got it, and it was pretty sweet, so I very much hope he's still got the same gift for me when I get back in game.
I suspect it's not based on the amount of sold slaves but on the amount of money you'd be missing out on.
So very, very worth it.
