I can literally spend 1 hour farming up a group of 30- 40 men and loose them all to a random sea raider encounter that contains something stupid like 1 named, 6 officers and a bunch of raiders that in their own right are stupidly OP.
5 iron flesh isn't actually that much in this mod, considering it goes up to 15. If you want to take less damage, you can lower the difficulty. The damage of everything is scaled up very high because you'll be able to get armor that has 60+ defense later on.
Being in a faction gives you an official, which gives you weekly cash and renown rewards. You also have the privilege of being able to hire a party that follows you around and you can give it men. You ALSO can pay 1000 cash to one of your companions to turn him into a "general" which basically makes them into a lord who always follows your commands. This'll let you load them up with hundreds of troops so you don't have to worry about party limits.
There's 21 companions in taverns, with some of them spawning after day 94. The heroes in this mod can also go "on fire" when they get enough kills, making them obscenely strong.
Once you have a bunch of heroes, you'll never have any issues with bandits, with the exception of the Dajin. But joining a faction also has that faction fight the Dajin troops.
There's lots of ways to become sickeningly powerful in this mod and I hope you continue to give it a try.
Maybe mount and blade just isn't your game to begin with. Maybe try something easier that lets you be a god and just kill hordes of enemies like Dynasty Warriors or something.
