So, the first thing is the gladius.
In my opinion, roman legionaires are... well, they are like paper.
I know that the gladius has a very decent thrust damage but the ability to swing with 19 dmg makes it pretty problematic.
Imperial Rome made gladiuses as thrust only weapon, i would suggest to either buff the swing dmg a little bit or make it thrust only.
Having the dmg on 19 made it impossible for me to get through 10 barbarians in a siege, my troops would just get destroyed, buffing the dmg to 30 allowed them to break through but it didnt make them immortal.
Maybe im being a noob but you would expect the roman army to be... well, a little bit tougher.
The other thing is becoming the emperor, I think it's a little bit too easy to just go to Kaeso, go to Rome and yeah.
What about making another way?
Lets say, you find allies and split the empire making like a triumvirate, someone gets Alexandria + Asia, you get Rome and Spain and someone gets Africa or just two people split the empire between eachother.
It would give you only half of the empire and another faction to fight in the future which would just make the game a bit longer and more fun in my opinion.
Please, consider it at least.
Love your work.

Maybe you had their weakest auxiliaries in your ranks, because some of their legions, specially the praetorian guard... Well, they are what youre looking for, i destroyed germanic armies with some roman legionaries, specially the praetorian guard

Decrease cool down time of recruiting legions??
OolongHustle Nov 15, 2019 @ 4:19pm
How the hell do you become emperor / start civil war / betray Nero? When I send a messenger to "split" the kingdom, they never come back. It'd be nice to have a guide of some sort.

@OolongHustle, look at the mod describtion, there you can find some kind of "guide"

Have the God blessing be a thing for all origin options. You seem to sorta favour the beggar start.
[BG]Maxi  [developer] Dec 19, 2019 @ 3:39am
@Atlas Siidim, it is supposed to start as beggar, originally I added the other options only for the case, that a game breaking bug destroys your safe, so that you dont have to redo everything.

Add a quest that leads you to find a book when you go to Rome. You read it belongs to Senequa, who's in the scriptorium. You give it back to him and you and Senequa talk for a whole day, giving 1 point for intelligence.

Just got an idea: what about typical Roman formations?
Namely famous tescudo? (and others)
Having Roman troops performing Roman miilitary tactics would give better impression.
Also, as side note - shouldn't it be a case that Roman officers in custom legion (Primi Pili, Centurions, etc.) should have access to "armors" of their corresponding units to choose for them?
So far only centurions have their armour and only general one.

@adriankowaty, testudo would be difficult, but one could use the shieldwall formation and all rows behind the first row perform a special animation to hold their shields up. But it wouldnt make any sense since in warband arrows usually dont come from a flat angle, but they come from an acute angle. And regarding the officers, they have many different stuff to choose from which is according to their rank. I didnt added the stuff which normal officers have because there is a limit of 60 items per inventory. Thats also the reason why I added the option to change the gear you can assign to them. As example, you can visit the merchant Gaius Marius in Rome where you can buy every Roman armor and then add it to the selection.

@Rudy21Guns, a nice idea, especially because attribute points are rare and important

I see, but some parts of the "full armours" don't show up even in Gaius Marius' store (for example armour of Primi Pili (Primus Pilus in singular).
Perhaps creating separate stall for Gaius Marius (a choice in speaking) for officer's armors should help?
As for tescudo, if this is hard to accomplish and has limited use in gameplay, then maybe it isn't that wise idea.

@adriankowaty, oh, maybe I have forgotten to add them to Gaius Marius, I will take a look

Changing topics, and I am aware you won't have time for that before tommorow but it could serve well for next uptade, what about giving an option to enstablish and develop your very own latifudium, similar to how you develop your manor in 1257 AD?
I know that idea of manors/personal settlements is more akin to medievality, but - in fact, according to book on antiquity and late Roman period I read for my studies - feudal manors/castles emerged from late Roman period of expansion of latifudiae and turning them into all-around, self-depended economically settlements by the Roman aristocracy.
My idea is that we could for example buy a latifudium in village we own, and develop it to all-around settlement producing goods for trade aswell as source of leisure for player character.
Let's say we first build villa for owner, then start erecting economic buildings like farms of various type and progressively grow up our latifudium to produce even finished goods and weaponry.
I must admit, I am fan of manor mechanic in 1257 AD mod and I think it can be retailored/redeveloped to serve role of player's personal latifudium in this mod.
I know that we already have Domus Augusti and Domus Mare, but they seem to focus only on administrative matters (Domus Augusti) or gaining income (Domus Mare), without economic aspect.
I am well aware such development could take your precious time, but maybe you could consider adding such option in the future?
Then I could also propose you to expand mechanic further, once it is properly set up and working, but not before, to not strain your limited time and to not make you abandon mod due to overdemands (if any, for which I pardon).

As for Gaius Marius, he doesn't have armours of tribuni, cornicerns, decurions and preety much every other officers in your legion, with exception of centurions and signifers/aquilifers.
Adding new stall for him for officer corps solely could help with limit of items per unit and a bit of sort things for our legion, making it easier to properly gear it up.
On side note, I have habit of arming my legionaries with hasta and spatha instead of gladius, as want them to perform decently against enemy cavalry and spatha is better in close combat than gladius as far as I have noticed.
Apart of that they get normally pilae, scuti and Roman legionary armor, but that variation of spathas and (long) hastas I always perform.
